We still do that. Are you talking about street service? We get a big tent outside every once and a while and the ministers and outreach committee have what we call "street service".

If we did that in Summer here, half the congregation wouldn't survive!

Ugh tell me about it. The worst thing about Louisiana is the HUMIDITY. You don't sweat here, the sweat just sits on your face and goes nowhere.

I can handle heat but I cannot handle the humidity! But be that as it may, 113-115 is awfully hard to sit in outside for any length of time. In fact because it is so dry the heat is even more dangerous because your body doesn't give you that much warning before your in real trouble.

I feel you, it gets up to 110 here in the summer...generally stays about 90 give or take once summer gets into swing. Winters are nice.

That sounded so much like something I would say. That just made my day.

Re: Old Time Pentecost
Standards are not the problem. It's the judgmental attitude of people who are constantly spying and looking for obscure violations like bows in hair, clear nail polish etc. Strain at gnat and swallow a camel type folks...

OK, sometimes the standards themselves can be the problem. I realize these are fringe churches but I would never submit to having my wedding and honeymoon at a "church approved" location or having my internet activity monitored by the pastor regardless of how truly humble he was. LOL

Are you kidding? I wouldn't consider that to be "standards". I consider that to be meddling.

Re: Old Time Pentecost
I have yet to hear of a pastor doing this. Again, the only stories that I have heard come from some independent churches (there are reasons that some do not want to be part of any organization of fellowship).
