In the old Sherlock Holmes stories that was the secret to the detective's file system. He had a stack of stuff and the way he'd find it was by date. If he knew the date, or even the approximate time period, he knew how far down in the stack to look.

My stack is neat right now because we are having people here this weekend and one of them is going to sleep in this room we call my den. Stuff has been removed from the bed and filed away so he can sleep here. Some stuff is neatly piled in a stack on the left side of the desk next to the computer. It didn't show up in that picture. It's several magazines I hope to get around to reading (Pentecostal Herald, Apostolic Standard, and Charisma), a folder with some information on Aglow International (I am an advisor to the local group), a folder of notes and outlines for the Bible Studies I have been teaching on Wednesday nights, two planners (2008 and 2009) and some scribbled notes that might some day be a sermon or Bible Study. I also have a little figurine of a guy behind a desk which is piled high with stacks of paper that are so high his neck is stretched so his head can reach above them. There is a saying on his desk that says "Somebody ought to invent a desk that flushes."

Re: What's on your desk?
Seriously, on my desk right now are two prayer requests I just received that I need to pray about and pass on. Could whoever is reading this take some time and pray for these:
A ten year old boy named Dalton is in Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. He has had leukemia all his life. Off and on it has gone into remission and then returned. Now in a last ditch effort they are going to do a bone marrow transplant this afternoon. If this does not work, there is no further treatment and no hope of his surviving. They will know in two weeks if it has been successful or not. I don't know this child or his family. Someone has called this in to our church. I don't know if we will hear the results of this later or not.
Another request is for a 46 year old man named Steve who is in ICU in a local hospital. He has blood clots in his legs and has had a stroke. He is in there for surgery but they can't do anything right now because his condition is so bad. Again, I don't know this man but someone has called our church to pray.
I know this is kind of a light hearted thread and I don't want to put a damper on it, but, we are God's people and we pray and things happen and people come to us for help. These people mentioned above need the direct intervention of God.
While you are praying, I would like to add two more requests.
Our pastor's father is having some problems. I talked to him yesterday and said I'd be praying for him. He is passing blood in his urine. He is just a few months younger than I am.
Also, our new great grandson, Connor, who was born December 19, 2008. My grand daughter Lindsey sent me a text message Tuesday that he has a heart murmer and if it is not better by month 2 he will have to be taken to cardiologist. She asked me to put him on the prayer chain. I told her we would put him on the prayer chain and that Grandma and Grandpa would be praying for him.
