Are you listening for Him to say it?

So often those who hold to absolutes are labeled as legalists, cultic, manipulative and so on, but in fact it is the New Age tolerants who demand a rigidity. CS said it best, it is the height of legalism to demand a "is it Heaven or Hell" litmus test.
If I know my wife doesn't like Chinese food, I'm not gonna take her there. It's not that she will leave me, it's that I want to please her. So much of our response to passages like this are determined by our desired proximity to The Master.

Totally open, Phil. If you knew me and knew my heart, you would know it was so.
A couple years back, I had thought I could participate in something that none of my pastor friends thought anything about one way or the other. God specifically told me not to, and I quit. It wasn't a major issue, just something I felt like didn't please God in my life. So I put it down. I DO try to listen.

I hope I didn't offend you... I just couldn't resist asking and trying to be funny!
I certainly cannot judge your experience... and wouldn't want to even if I could. I have many of those same convictions you described so I do understand the sensitivity to the situation.

I received a phone call yesterday from a friend who was disturbed by a testimony in her church from a woman who said she was thinking of cutting her hair and donating it because she was scheduled for chemo and would lose it anyway, but decided to pray about it and was shown angels holding their breath. When she decided not to cut it, the angels let out a sigh of relief.
She would have been cutting her angels off in cutting her hair, was the assertion.

Right. And neither does it say women should not cut their hair.

Yeah. If if be a shame for a woman to be SHORN (Paul had his head shorn and it wasn't a little trim!) or SHAVEN, let her be covered. Nothing about cutting hair in there only something about having it shorn or shaven. Shorn is NOT a little scissor trim.

For our good sister to look at my post and instead of seeing a principle, to see a legalistic interpretation and a death threat, reveals the way the Scripture looks to those who don't view it through the eyes of grace.
You see, grace is a teacher. Paul revealed that truth in Titus.
Grace enables you to see a principle beyond the literal.
Thank God for the grace that saves us from a legalistic view!

You talked about God killing Moses for not having an outward form of submission in a thread that is talking about women and an outward form of submission that many here think the Bible teaches and in which you also called some of your brethren that hold an opposing view "mockers". Ergo: pretty easy to put together.

The woman is shamed by having her head shorn or shaven. That means her head is void of any hair. This isn't equatable to cutting her hair at all, and I honestly can't understand how someone gets that idea from reading what Paul said.

Everybody knows ( Read: Doth not nature teach you!)that shorn or shaven head on women is shameful (as you defined it). Having a haircut is not something nature teaches as shameful.
