Ferd, did you just completely disregard my posts about the fact that everybody has been calling him the most liberal Senator based on his voting in 2007? He has been active in the current Senate (more than enough to be graded) and it was McCain who did not vote enough to be registered. You can't count his votes in 2007 to label him as the most liberal, but then not count 2007 as a working year.
see here is why i completely disregard that 140 odd day charge. those are just days he voted. thats a small part of being a senator.
Just because Barak voted in 2007 doesnt mean he was active as a senator. He was on the road campaigning. part time credit maybe. but not full time bro.
Like I said, Ive got my scorecard and you can have what ever one you want. I dont deny my view is based on my perspective from the other side of the fence.
But even if you give Obama 3 full years as a senator, when you stack that up beside John McCain.... or anyone else that has run for president, it comes up woefully short.

I agree with that. That was never debatable to me.
I know that you probably won't believe it, but my view is not from the "other side of the fence". I'm trying to learn how to step back and see everything more clearly.

I know you are, Stew. I respect you for that and I still say that I enjoy reading everything you write!

Well, the feeling is mutual. I have learned a lot from a lot of the people here. I do enjoy conversation and hearing and learning from other people's perspectives and experiences.

I agree. I'm seriously getting tired of politics and haven't been posting much.

I know what your view is. Ive challenged others who I felt were fudging. Ive never challenged you on that point.

I think his choices to lean on men like Biden and Powell illustrate that he's taking this far more seriously than McCain. McCain only picked Palin for political reasons, McCain's pick was only to win the election. It doesn't feel like it was a decision establishing how he'd govern. Also considering McCain's age, his VP pick is a pretty serious choice. Personally, if McCain would have picked Colin Powell I think it would have been a no brainer, McCain/Powell over Obama/Biden easy. I wish Newt would have been more involved personally. McCain could have stacked the deck with major experience...but he pandered.
And here is where that work hypocracy comes into play. if Palin is too inexperienced then Obama is for the same reasons.
But I dare say, no one voting for him thinks that is the case.
If McCain were elected and died in office, then Palin would be in the same situation that Obama was in when he picked Biden. Palin would need to nominate (for senate approaval) a seasoned person to fill the VP position.
Personally, I'd say that Obama doesn't have the "experience" I'd be looking for. BUT...his choices are more impressive than McCain's. It shows that though he may not have the "experience" he knows how to make wise choices as far as VP and advisers go. McCain...he picked Barbie. While McCain has more "experience" in public office, his VP choice illustrates that he really isn't ready to govern the country. He's running for President of the United States, the most powerful position in the free world...not the Senate.
