do u defend her extremeness or just the hygiene part? as a female i do know there are some pros to this but the "exceptions" is what makes me think it's not in good hygiene. i won't elaborate b/c i don't want to be graphic.
No, I don't defend her extreme measures...however, I won't fault her for trying to be consistent.
For those who do it just for the fun of it...the "exceptions" are also exceptions to the commando practice. Capiche?

A couple of weeks ago I went over to a friends house in the morning and after knocking
on the door his teenage daughter opens it just a crack and says "Dad, bro. Mike is here", and he says "Well, let him in". and she says "I can't" and runs off. So he lets me in. He and I are having cofee and talking and a couple minutes later she comes in the kitchen and it was the funniest thing, she has on a skirt, one of those jean kind that goes to the top of her knees, over her pajama pants. I was practically rofl, but I held it in so as not to embarrass her,but it was hard, it was a really goofy sight. I guess she thouht I would be offended if she wasn't wearing the skirt( which I wouldn't have been).
Here's one for you, Dora: One year on choir tour, the girls were getting dressed in the Ladies' bathroom after singing. The robes were so HOT that most girls just wore their slips underneath and would change into church clothes afterwards. So...we're standing in the bathroom putting on our clothes, (no one wearing any less than a slip) and this militant modesty female type marches in and starts loudly lecturing the girls for getting dressed outside of the stalls, and talking about a "spirit of lesbianism!"
We just kind of stood there with our mouths open--most of us wondering who REALLY had the problem!
Very disturbing, to say the least.
That's approaching "spiritual abuse" territory right there, sad to say.
Its stories like that that get out and really give Pentecostals a bad name.

ARPH
reminds me of when i first spent the night with one friend who's dad was our sunday school teacher. when we got up the next morning i was like "do i need to put on a skirt?" she said "NO!" and laughed. i had modest pj's on...wouldn't have worn them in front of him otherwise but i was kinda like "what do i do...what do i do??!"
Funny you should mention that. I personally know a pastor's wife who goes commando in an attempt to be consistent about not wearing pants. She wears knee-high nylons, no pantyhose.
Oh yeah, now there is a good witness next time the wind blows the right way!!
Besides......ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
I mean....well....so much to say but will turn red if I say it so just use your imagination!

before i got in church i used to think all WERE like that. just from an outside view i guess. i would have run kicking and screaming in the other direction if i had seen that as a new convert.

I remember a case of a Japanese exchange student who had come to Pentecost. She had been baptized but hadn't received the Holy Ghost yet. I was in NY at the time, and she had spent some time in Texas before coming up to NY for a while, to stay with friends, I believe.
She told me how one of the church sisters she was staying with in Texas gave her a hard time about wearing makeup. Once, the sister took her to the bathroom and made her look in the mirror and said to her "See, don't you see how that makeup makes you look like a prostitute?" My heart just sank when I heard that.
She went back to Japan about a month or two later. About a month after that, we received an email from her saying she had gotten the Holy Ghost in Japan! I was so happy for her, and I was glad she had hung in there. Praise God!!
But I couldn't help but wonder how many people we have lost over the years, through overzealousness and insensitivity. I know it must hurt God's heart. It hurts me, for sure.
