It is interesting that God never commanded tithing before Law. It seems man thought of it himself as a gift to God. God honoured it. Abraham was not told by God to tithe. he thought of it himself. God blessed him.

It is a godly principle! Amen. It was law only in Moses' day, though. God still blesses tithers, but He does not want therm to think of it in terms of regulation. We must be hearty givers.

I have never been able to figure out why any born again believer having experienced the grace, mercy, forgiveness of and relationship with a God who is so awesome and powerful and bestows such blessing, favor and anointing on us ......... could possibly resent giving 10% of what they earn.

Doesn't make sense to me.

Whether a preacher preaches/teaches tithing in a legalistic way or not, the idea of resentment of giving that little portion on the part of a believer leaves me astounded.

If nothing else, it's a great plan for giving. The church and ministry have to be supported some way. To have a streamlined plan that applies to everyone evenly and fairly seems sensible and good.

10% - a tithe. And then of course we can give offerings on top of that and also through faith (like the faith promise plan) become a vessel that God can use to bring even greater financial blessing to the church.

God is pleased with a cheerful giver. Not a resentful stingy fist folded "I shouldn't have to do this" kind of giver.

Sorry Felicity, but I have never understood why when a believer says tithing is not mandated in the New Testament, he is seen as resentful and stingy.

Tithing wasn't mandated to Abraham either, yet he did it. Are we the children of Abraham because of faith only?

No one ever told me to give tithes when I became a Christian. I decided to follow the example of Abraham when I read the OT for the first time, then eventually when I got in church I learned what tithing was.

I understand what you're saying but I never said that a believer who says tithing is not mandated in the NT is resentful or stingy. This is what I said........

I guess that's a new television show. Just noticed the ad today for the program.

Is it any good? Worth watching?
