For Ferd

* McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as “an agent of intolerance” in 2002, but has since decided to cozy up to the man who said Americans “deserved” the 9/11 attacks. (Indeed, McCain has now hired Falwell’s debate coach.)

* McCain used to oppose Bush’s tax cuts for the very wealthy, but he reversed course in February.

* In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending “dirty money” to help finance Bush’s presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.

* McCain supported a major campaign-finance reform measure that bore his name. In June, he abandoned his own legislation.

* McCain used to think that Grover Norquist was a crook and a corrupt shill for dictators. Then McCain got serious about running for president and began to reconcile with Norquist.

* McCain took a firm line in opposition to torture, and then caved to White House demands.

* McCain gave up on his signature policy issue, campaign-finance reform, and won’t back the same provision he sponsored just a couple of years ago.

* McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.

* McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he’s pro-ethanol.

* McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.

* And now he’s both for and against overturning Roe v. Wade.

I'm not sure what happened but I think the GOP would be in much better shape if they had selected a stronger candidate.
Because he wanted to be a Maverick. There are some issues that he does need to cross the aisle.

People in my church are astonished that educated America would follow such a man.
I think the people in your church know of things the educated American has not or will not acknowledge.

I read a letter from one of the UPC missionaries in Africa and they are appalled that he's even running for President.

Thing is, I think it was thought out, but not in some way that serves as a precursor as to how evil and wrong for America he is.

I think the emblem was changed to "inspire hope" that common everyday, run-of-the-mill Americans can indeed affect their country in a positive way and that Obama will be the agent of that positive change. It gives the impression that the White House is approachable for him and for all who will follow him there.

Really? like Baraks call to end NAFTA as a direct correlation to Hoovers support for Smoot Hawley?

wanna get specific?

How about the Hoover proposal in 1932 to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans? Sounds like Obama to me.

Look Cliff, you can say all day that Hoover was a "right wing" guy> I don't care if he was or wasn't. What I know is that Obama's economic proposals mirror what Hoover did at the beginning of the Great Depression. those things that he did have been universally viewed as exacerbating the problem and prolonging the depression.

Obamas proposals follow the same general direction. Raise taxation on those who are producing, and raise tariffs on our best trading partners.

You guys need to make sure you are praying Alzheimers doesn't completely overtake McCain before he gets elected.

He doesn't hate America or the people in it, this country has built a reputation on allowing people to make it different AND THAT IS WHAT HIS CAMPAIGN IS ABOUT! Change...

Like I said I am not an Obama supporter but this is ridiculous, don't vote for him if you don't want to but he is not unpatriotic or crazy, he wants to change the country to what he thinks is better, like any other president that has ever been elected.
Never. In fact usually there is an announcement preceding the national anthem reminding folks to rise and for men to remove their hats. My dad would have kicked some sense into me if I failed to salute the flag. My son stand straight and salutes the flag regardless of what some of the other kids around him are doing, and this weak excuse for a candidate cannot remember to salute.

Maybe it’s because my grandfather left his teeth in Korea, or that my Dad suffered permanent injuries as a result of going through basic training before being released from the doctor during Vietnam. I never forget, and I don’t want a President who does either.
