Imagine my surprise and dismay to find displayed on my screen the following: STARTLING! LARRY BOOKER'S Latest Message!!! etc. Intrigued, I clicked on the link and came to this website. I could not believe what I was reading. Brothers and sisters in Christ attacking this man for his message and tearing down his credibility and position as an anointed minister of the Gospel. With a heavy heart, I realized there was no way I could point my friend to this great testimony of the grace and power of God. What if he also Googled Larry Booker? He would conclude that he was a crazed, insane, legalistic, stupid man screaming at his church about whatever issue he may choose. Shame on you, brothers and sisters. Whatever you may feel about Bro. Booker, he is a Holy-Ghost filled, anointed minister of the Gospel. We should never use our voice or our words to "touch the anointed". I hope you will read this and consider carefully what you type in the future that may tear down and destroy somebody's witness and testimony and hinder the work of the kingdom of God.

In one of those west coast conferences @ myles young church, Booker was giving some opening remarks about a police officer in his church who was reassigned to check the computers for child pornographers. That officer told Booker he arrested a few dozen people in one day for distributing child pornography over the internet. Booker's solution was not to ban the internet. To do that would be consistent with principle. Instead he announced that his church was going to hold a seminar on how to deal with the internet.

And why did Booker have a problem with television? Even the three blind mice can see inconsistencies with his logic.

Brother Booker is a good man...Just think of all the weight a preacher carries...If we do or do not agree with him we sure can pray for him.
I personally fear the internet and have written a letter to our young people to please be careful and guard their heart from evil.
There is no way to ban the internet...we use it for so many things...It would be wiser (my viewpoint) to teach about the Heart....If our hearts are pure and clean internet is a wonderful thing...I love it for studying...

My point was Booker compromised principles to accept technology which is worse than television. He says an organization is on the path to hell by allowing television. As far as I know there haven't been 40 people arrested in one day for watching television.

Booker does not have an intelligent explaination why it is okay to put filters on the internet while ignoring the facts televisions have awesome filters to block unwanted television programs.

I'm not suggesting bans, but if one is going to say television is bad for such and such a reason, they should apply principle across the board. If you can't apply principle across the board, that should be a warning sign your principles need adjusted.

Booker told his church this past sunday night about how the tv vote went - said the organization took a turn towards destruction. He also said he was suprised at how many ministers nationwide are not happy.


Booker went on to say that the day of the vote was such an emotional day of sadness just like when JFK was shot and when the towers were hit on 9/11. He got the same feeling when the vote passed as on 9/11.


It is interesting to note that the original vote against tv took place in Tulsa in 1955 - maybe that's why they picked Tulsa as the place to form the new organization - to make a statement?


Also, Tommy Craft went to see Ken Phillips before the vote and apparently Wanda Phillips pleaded with Tommy Craft saying "don't let the movement (upc) go the way we did in regards to television. TV will steal everything from you"

First off I do not see Wanda Phillips saying that to Tommy Craft.

That has to be a an exaggerated conversation.

TV did not steal anything away from Kenneth Phillips or Mark Hanby.

It was the UPCI lack of vision that tore down Kenneth Phillips and Mark Hanby.

What Booker and others are standing for is not Holiness it is the fact they preached it for so many years.

Years when every GC speaker took the time to preach on Revival and standards.

Intersting to me it was the standards message that held back the revival.

If they change their position now they feel, why were we doing it for so many years?

At the end of the day who cares....

There is exponentially more content on the internet - both good and bad. Though there is much pornography and forum comments like yours to sort through, a decision has been made on it individually. One has historically been made on TV. No need to pull that corpse out of the ground. Your blanket consistency theory doesn't hold water. You draw the line somewhere and it doesn't have to pass tv1a's personal smell test. Just pray people like LB are making the wisest choice, and pray you are doing the same. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. If he feels others are going the wrong way, don't knock his stand because you feel attacked. MoveOn.org. THe difference between booker and I is I don't make heaven or hell issues out of television. I don't participate in organizational splits.
I don't spread deliberate falsehoods about television.

Why doesn't consistency matter? The Bible says a double minded person is unstable in all his ways. Consistency is importance.

If you want to throw constistency out the window than your religion is a joke.

If one cannot apply principle to all areas, than they are double minded.

Booker is double minded on this issue.

I have a question? What's up with the stories of all the Apostolic men of God who harped on TV but were caught in pornography scandals on their precious computers? Yeah, let's see this cat harp computers. Yeah, get rid of your computer and then start talking holiness, bud. The Internet has a lot more garbage on it than TV does.

I don't even care about TV, so don't think that I am defending it. My beef is with people who pick and choose what routes to holiness they want to take and how they can ruin people's lives. God can talk to his people without causing a man to blubber all over the pulpit. He is supposed to be a stable man of God, not an emotional wreck. His congregation needs to check themselves and see if they are responding to his crying and emotional ranting, or if he has a logical, unhampered argument. Sounds like emotional manipulation to me.

I have no idea who you are, and quite frankly don't care.........the allegations you are making in this post are over the limit. You are impugning a Pastor's reputation with a drive by accusation. This is the epitome of a double standard....you accuse someone with no proof (I believe the Bible calls it an accusation against an Elder without two or three witnesses) yet you want to denigrate him for his pastoral stand on issues that he (and many others) believe to be Biblical imperatives.
