Some of them do, yep some of them do.
Now, here are some questions on just how that works.

If this $2500 is paid by check, are social security, federal, state, and local taxes deducted and reported? Is a W2 form furnished to the preacher and to the IRS? Or is it up to the preacher to include that (minus expenses) when he files his taxes?

If the preacher is a pastor of a church somewhere, does his salary continue while he is away preaching somewhere? or would the amount he receives from the camp meeting be deducted from his salary at his local church?

Well if the man is a pastor and a saint in the church dies, guess who will leave the camp meeting early and purchase a $700 plane ticket to go home and do the funeral? If a guy preaches out a few times a year, I don't see a problem with him preaching the camp and getting paid by the church. He will most likely be on the phone counseling saints, fielding questions from his staff, calling a sick saint, praying over the phone with a troubled individual or someone about to go into surgery. Plus he will be studying and praying for the sermons he has to preach on the Sunday he gets home. So, he's still earning his salary.

He tickles their ears by preaching what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear! It's a shame too, because I would preach what they need to hear for just the price of a plane ticket.

I think there are conflicting perspectives at work here. I disdain the hireling as much as anyone but I also respect the blesser more than all! I desire to bless the Lord, my family, my pastor, my church, my community and all with whom I come in contact. That is not limited to monetary blessing but neither is monetary blessing excluded.
This was my intent. I was not talking about someone requiring $2500, but being a blessing.
