The fact is, however, that tithing is a biblical principle, not a hallmark of control issues.

I've been saying all along that it is a Biblical prinicple, so what's the beef? If you don't think that a preacher getting into a pulpit and demanding that people pay tithes or they will go to hell doesn't have some control issues then I don't know what to tell you. I've been there, got the t-shirt and decided to give it back. There's a right and a wrong way of presenting Biblical principles.

Rico,
Please don't assume that I preach tithing in that manner, or that I advocate preaching it in that manner.

When I was a kid a few times, yes.
The difference between cake walks and horse races or casinos is pretty clear to most of us though.
I don't know anyone who has ever had an addiction to cakewalk gambling.
Eating cake, maybe, but not cakewalks.

Brother, I never said you did, or even thought that. I was simply responding to yours and PP's post that said those who have problems with tithing have control issues.

THIS is my beef I guess. 10% as a "guidline" to giving, OK.
Not Ok, is making it salvational. Reqiured by God. That came from the same origen as the trinity.

required for what? Does it matter? If it was a salvation issue to keep your soul out of hell then would you tithe?

- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
