LOL! riiiight.... very funny! tell your friend tttttttttttttt from me....
I promise you, all big screen TVs, clothes etc will be purchased outside of the great state of Texas....
PS the population centers of El Paso, Dallas/Ft Worth, Beaumont and Tyler are all close enough to other states that there will be cross over.
maybe it wont be giant, but it might be enough to make a 9% tax be 10% or 11%!
knucklehead.

any getting around a tax that is legal is ok with me.
i dont care if that makes me bad.
I hate income tax. I see the holes in the property tax issue (old folks having to sell homes because they cant pay for a paid for house) but i just see holes in the sales tax...
I am not trying to reject it on this one point though....
Okay, am I just reading so much that my brain is mush. LOL!
You pay your property taxes to the local tax collector. The tax collector distributes funds to schools, cities and other local governments. Local governments spend funds on:
Schools
Roads
Hospitals
Fire Departments
Other Programs
You want to make big purchases out of state, eliminate property taxes AND you want to eliminate income tax.
How do you purpose we pay for all of the community services, above?

I saw on the cover a magazine I think it was the Texas Monthly, a picture of Perry with a question, President in 2012?

He's gotten some good reports of late.
Glen Beck has a 6 part series on the economic conditions for all the states.
He points out how well Texas is doing. That can be seen on Part One at minute markers - 3:26; 5:09; 8:54.

Good points on Texas with Part Two. Very excellent report! "They have done very well because they have very sensible policies. Legislators have done well responding to the recession."

Texas Governor Rick Perry Says No to Obama Education Department’s “Race to the Top” Initiative
When it comes to the creeping socialism stretching from President Barack Obama’s Washington, D.C., Texas Governor Rick Perry has a three word response, “No, thank you.” On January 13, Perry announced that Texas would not participate in the U.S. Department of Education’s “Race to the Top” competition.
The program invites all states to submit proposals for receiving a portion of a set-aside fund. It is a “race” because there is a limited pile of money that only a handful of states can claim. The “top” refers to the Department’s goal of choosing proposals that will improve student learning. To cash-strapped education budget directors or school administrators, the specter of federal dollars to fill in funding gaps is quite attractive. To a states’ rights advocate like Perry, it’s an opportunity to remind people about the importance of just saying no to more federal influence.
but all that gets offset by the Trans Texas Corridor.

Seems the question on the TTC is still circulating.
TxDot sent a letter in January of 2009 requesting the Fed's to issue a DISAPPROVAL of CONSTRUCTION. It was done. After that was issued it cannot return. It's dead gone. They'd have to start all over with environmental studies etc.
One project that was already under construction before the TTC was even developed is being finished but it was never a part of it. I-69 down near San Antonio is still on the books but it was not a part of it either. Plus I-69 most likely is going to go away. But it was not part of the what the TTC was about. It's gone.
Trans Texas Corridor is dead, TxDOT says
January 6, 2009
"Make no mistake: The Trans-Texas Corridor as we have known it no longer exists," TxDOT executive director Amadeo Saenz said in a speech at an annual transportation conference. In its place will be a smaller, more deliberate plan that assesses individually each of the scores of projects once lumped together as part of the TTC.

This is what I think is going to happen - Mike Pence. I would campaign for him.
Quote:
Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN) is headed to New Hampshire, home of the 'First in the Nation Presidential Primary,' next month.
Political insiders see it as another sign that Pence, the number three Republican in the House of Representatives, may be preparing for a run at the GOP Presidential Nomination in 2012.
This will be Pence's first trip to The Granite State, however last summer he visited Iowa, another crucial early state in Presidential politics.

LOL!
Look, it is really simple. I NEVER want an income tax.
I am not fond of the property tax.
I dont know if I like the sales tax, but my view is that there are holes like the one I suggested in using it.
we have to have some tax, but that doesnt mean I am going to work to pay them. I will pay what taxes i am required to, but when there is a legal means to avoid it, I will opt for that means....
hee hee.
Sales tax makes it easy for me to just buy elsewhere.

I am not fond of the idea of running a guy who's experience is just House of Reps.
Now if the Republicans win the House and Pence becomes the Speaker, then my tune may change.
Ferdinand! Ron Paul ran for President and he was in the House. Pence doesn't need to be Speaker. He is the most conservative politician there is. You need to study up on Mike Pence. Here's a link that nutshells some important issues concerning Mike. This is an excerpt from the link.
Quote:
Pence is one of the most outspoken conservatives in the Republican Party. He is a particular champion of controlling the federal budget and cutting government spending, and also supports free markets and “traditional” values.
His decisions are guided by his religion — he tells people “I am a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order.
Pence voted with his party 91 percent of the time during the 110th Congress. However, he has opposed his party on some key measures when they don’t conform to his political beliefs. He voted against President George W. Bush’s education bill, the Medicare/prescription drug bill, and a bankruptcy bill because it included a measure in support of abortion rights.Almanac of American Politics, 2008 edition(7)Almanac of American Politics, 2008 edition
Pence gained notice (and was attacked by many colleagues) when he challenged former Majority Leader Tom Delay’s (R-Tex.) assertion that it would be impossible to make up for spending in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina with budget cuts elsewhere. At the meeting, Pence proposed cutting tax credits to the poor, support for those with AIDS, and Medicaid, saying those offsets would save the government $500 billion over ten years.
Though the leadership was furious, “operation offset” changed the debate in Washington, and ushered in a renewed effort to limit government spending.
YOU WILL LOVE THIS!!
Foes
Pence was the only House member to file a lawsuit charging that the McCain-Feingold campaign Finance law was unconstitutional. At the time, he said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) “was so deep in bed with the Democrats his feet are coming out of the bottom of the sheets. Their relationship has remained chilly.
