Now, if she steps away from running for office and is only a spokesman for Conservatism - it will all be good. She is not hampered by a title, which she stated in her resignation. That's lends the idea that she, at this time, is not seeking an office for now and only wants to help in some way and probably a big way. Anything will be big when you involve Sarah. She just has that way about her. The media is fascinated by her.

I think because of her rise to stardom, many are skeptical and sitting back waiting for a ball, any ball, to drop. It usually is a given for political maneuvers. She seemed to leave herself open when she said a "higher calling". Yes, a big gamble and like everyone else - we wait to see what she may have to present. Like everyone else, we wish it was something profound that would work for the better of this country. It would be short of miraculous and we always hope for that.

Newman's post reminds me that there may be some things we will never hear from her and some things we may not know.

Not much else we can say, Stew. I think we need to sit back and wait. I probably won't have much more to say on this thread, unless some new news breaks. I think we've just about covered it for now.

God Bless, Glad you are back for the tennis match! Do we get to scream when we serve and volley? Phenomenal!!
Okay. I guess real answers will be forthcoming...of course that's what press conferences and statements are usually used for

Her supporters can guess at possible reasons all day, but they will not be able to substitute for her clear answers. I'm just saying objectively that suddenly telling your LT. Governor that you're quitting and then throwing together a press conference to announce it (all within less than 2 days)...is going to raise a lot of questions. Questions that the mere supporters will not be able to answer to the average person's satisfaction.
Many a politician has left their current office for another office. Yes?

Why should she let the Obama administration and liberal media know the score? Why not make them sweat? It is harder to plan for unpredicatable events.

She left for what other office? The Presidency that is three and a half years away?

Also, if I were her, I would not be worried about keeping secrets from Obama and the liberal media...there are plenty of moderates and people she would need to win over that she is also leaving in the dark with a bad taste in their mouths.

NO. I am only pointing out that she is not the first politician to leave their current position to do something greater.

Being able to grab America's attention AND GENERATE headlines to avert our plunge over a cliff of no-return certainly constitutes a greater need right now then finishing out her term as governor. Additionally, Sarah Palin's ability to generate headline coverage, and raise cash and awareness for conservative candites in 2010 could prove very effective. IMO

This may be wishful thinking on my part. But unless Obama and thugs already know of a scandal (which frankly it seems would have come out much sooner than now if such were the case) then I imagine they are paying close attention and not sleeping as comfortably.

Only if you think hard decisions, prioritizing, and conservative family values are out of line with presidential qualifications.

I really do hope that she and her family do well and they can have a normal life that her kids deserve. Let's just hope she doesn't turn up in 3 years asking too be leader of the free world is my point.
I don't think her resignation disqualifies her from future office. It's not as if she's resigned because of some scandal--a fact I imagine a lot of people find superbly disappointing.

Re: Sarah Palin announces she will resign

1) I find it ironic that she complains about having to spend time and money on lawsuits, yet her attorney just released a statement suggesting they would sue anyone who writes about her alleged scandal involving the sports complex ...

2) If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. If Mrs Palin can't take the media following her around and writing mean things about her or her family ... she should stay clear of national politics, especially the Presidency. Yes, it's terrible some things that have been said/written of the Palin's ... but it comes with the office. If she doesn't like it, or can't take it ... don't run for office.

3) Good luck and good riddance ...

Sorry, Miss B. I don't think Palin has it. I'm sure she's a first class lady, and I'm happy she's conservative, but this is the Big Leagues, and I don't see her able to swing a bat. Photo ops don't do anything for you once you step in the batter's box.

I think Palin should do fellow conservatives a favor, and stay out of the race. She can help campaign for others, and that would be helpful.
