I don't think Dan will make any major changes as long as Bro. Hardwick is alive! As CC1 stated, it appears that Dan is trying to make Christ Church more Pentecostal in worship style!
I tend to believe this is the case.

I don't know the entire story. I've heard comments from both sides. All I know is that when Dan Scott took the church in Phoenix, it was a happening church running about 2,000+ people. When he left, there were only 300-400 people with a huge financial burden on the church.

It may not all be Dan's fault, as I heard that sin was prevalent in the leadership positions. When Dan started cleaning house, many people left. I'm also sure that Dan handled some issues in ways that he later regretted.

We all make mistakes!

True that. If he started cleaning house then I can see how the church could lose a lot of members. People don't like having their apple carts overturned. Hopefully, he won't find himself in a position to have to do any house cleaning there at CC. I know you and CC1 love your church and would hate to see it go through any rough times.

I agree PM, mistakes are made by all. There is not a perfect way to clean house. It is a tight situation I am sure. I have been around churches that have cleaned house and everytime there are people on both sides of the fence that are ticked off. There is always the side that backs the preacher and the side that attacks the preacher. Often time most of the people are in the middle ground or grey areas and often times those are the ones that become lost cause they do not know what to believe. That is the toughest part is losing the middle grounders cause they do not know what to do and feel they must lean one way or another. Staying in the middle and staying out of the mess should be the better choice, but one must stay in the middle and not lean one way or another cause it is easy to get burned and hurt.

I have watched Dan for a long time and believe that he will do well, but it will be key who he chooses as the new Associates, but if Bishop Hardwick is still the head of the board I am sure he will have a TON of say in who will be coming in.

All I'm saying is that he doesn't have an excellent track record when he is CEO. That's probably why Bro. Hardwick will remain as chairman of the board, which is unusual. The buck will still stop with Bro. Hardwick! There is probably a plan in place to gradually shift the power to Dan over an extended period of time!
Pianoman and I are in one mind and one accord here!

Re: Christ Church Pastor Change

BTW - Dan Scott has a new book coming out in a few weeks in addition to his recent book "Naked and Not Ashamed" (about sex & Christians).

The new book, the title just escaped my mind, is a look at world religoins. I heard him give a brief description of it saying that it was a fictionalized account of a conference or some kind of session on world religoins that he attended and was a speaker at some years ago.

From what little he has talked about it before I think it should be an interesting look.
