I hadn't been watching this thread, but it is interesting. Several people have had very good comments.
AFF has had several functions for me. It has been a learning experience as I heard others' opinions and thoughts about different scriptures and beliefs. It has allowed for fellowship I wouldn't otherwise have gotten. It has reminded me of my heritage and of what I believed when I first prayed through and at times given me strength to change my position or establish it more firmly in my mind.
If a poster's statements are deeply troubling me, I will put them on ignore. That way I can read their statements when I feel up to it, rather than when I least expect them. I've rarely felt a need to do that-though I have wondered how many people might have me on ignore a few times. (j/k)
We are called to be light and salt. If we agree with everyone else in the world, we may become dark and savorless. But if we withdraw from every dark or savorless situation, what good is our light or salt?
There will always be disagreements. Most of us could admit to times we have even disagreed with ourselves, after all. (I have, anyway.) But disagreements don't preclude peace. We can disagree yet respect each other and love each other. It will be through these two channels that our brother may be won, and it will be through these two channels that peace will come in any interactions between people, whether we win anyone or not.
