I don't think anyone really believes in 3 Gods, no. I think you are right that the words we try to use to define God fail us.

I believe that there is one Spirit, and that one Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus, and is also the Holy Ghost. The Father of creation, the Son in redemption, and the Spirit indwelling believers.

Trinitarians believe in 3 distinct separate beings... They can say one god all they want but they believe in 3 gods .

Could OPs define God as One Spirit with 3 personas, if persona is defined as a role? Because God does play different roles, correct?

The Christian view of the Trinity is often described as a view of one God existing in three distinct hypostases/personae/persons. The Latin "persona" is not the same as the English "person" but is a broader term that includes the meaning of the English "persona."

This is it! But the problem with Trinitarians, in my opinion, is that they don't bother to explain it like this, and instead end up making the Godhead sound like a 3-way committee. Oneness people then see it and say "They believe in 3 GODS!!!"

Simple I am a son-husband-uncle-nephew-etc those are unquie roles but I am ONE person. The exact opposite of what Trinitarianism teaches.
