I gotta say though, the jerking creeps me out. I can handle an incident or two like that, but when it becomes sort of commonplace I start thinking they are being conditioned...

The jerking I have seen there is very light compared to what I saw in Pentecostal Churches over the years. I actually have a bit of that myself once in a while. If it became a major activity there I would be more concerned.

Four people so far baptized like so. In or "into" the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.....the Lord Jesus Christ. Or words very similar.
Im impressed.

Since I'm a fan of both Misty Edwards and Matt Gilman, I often tune in when they're leading Worship with the Word. It's awesome to see people my own age that passionate about God. However, I don't think that I'd visit IHOP. Not quite my cup of tea.

Someone else once told me to stay away from Morningstar.
I actually like the IHOP near Orlando and now that I know that baptism in Jesus Name is acceptable among them, I may visit more often.
But what's the deal?
Why is Morningstar dangerous?
How is IHOP dangerous?
Michael, please explain-- or anyone who may know what he was thinking when he made his comment.
I don't want to be in the dark about something if there is something I should know.
For example, I once was involved for a brief amount of time with ICOC. However, God showed me out before they became known as a cult.

From what I've read recently, Rick Joyner seems to still have a view similar to the "Kingdom Now" movement that states Christians can have all the power of the resurrected Jesus Christ if we weren't so wimpy in the faith.
This is problematic because when the leadership of a group assumes this type of mantle they will make horribly unreasonable demands on their followers. Think about it, if you can't raise the dead then you are coming up short and need to "pray through." That sort of stuff can be far worse than the "you need to pray through for wearing short sleeves to Disney World" type of legalism.
I wasn't familiar with the newer "Morningstar" group - but once I began to look into it I saw many of the same names from the Kansas City Prophets and all that. These are the folks that gave us the "Toronto Blessing" and a whole series of false prophecies through the 1980s and 1990s about a world that never came true.
These guys are ardent about building a "Kingdom" in this world that is bolstered by "signs following" - but they don't really get the signs to follow. So instead, there is a lot of social pressure to dance a certain way, laugh just a certain way, carry yourself and move a certain way in order to exhibit the "signs" that you too have been to the same "well" as the Prophets.

I haven't looked at enough of Rick's stuff specifically, but this is a huge issue I have with movements related to Toronto and Lakeland. They have some ideas that are right, but take some things way too far, IMO. Yes, we have authority as believers now...but really, IMO, they take it way too far in some places.

This gives me something to think about. Thank you. I haven't felt this..but me and God, He's doing something that has my attention very consumed right now. I'll keep this in mind.

Do you know book titles or websites where I can read about some of this?

This I have not seen, yet. But I've really only been crossing paths with these things more than following the same path.

That's definitely something...
I wonder how old that is? I didn't find a date anywhere...do you know, Scott?
I did *not* see anything like that there! Would have walked out if I had....that's just....wow.
I've watched a few services online too and haven't seen anything like that.
