Oh brother!!! So much for the post-racial age! Press, pundits, Obama proponents accusing all opponents of racism - Orchestrated? You bet!!!
Perhaps, to a certain extent it is orchestrated...I do not think for a second that the opposition on a grand scale is race based.

But I do personally know people for whom it IS a racial thing.

I'm sure the handful of northerners I know who are spouting that "a Black man has no business being president!!" are not unlike people in other regions.

But to say that it is primarily a racist thing, I'm not going to go that far.

LOL! Wouldn't that then be characterized as a miracle?

Just read this quote. I'd forgotten about it. LOL!

"Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first." -- Ronald Reagan.

I agree, Barb, it is taking it too far. Who cares what color he is? I care about his policies and the direction he is taking this country. That is always the bottom line. I've said in the past that I think Obama is arrogant and I still do, but that has nothing to do with his color.

This is that "glass ceiling" affect that I didn't find when I lived in the deep south.

In Alabama and Mississippi, many people were honest.

In Maryland, Delaware and New York, many people were not-- to include blacks, whites and asians.

I don't think EVERYTHING concerning the opposition that our President is facing is about race.

However, I firmly believe that parents pulling their kids out of the classroom during the President's speech was nothing short of bigotry shrouded in politics.

The "liar" comment was completely out of line and demonstrated a level of disrespect that I don't think would have been demonstrated had a white person been elected.

Gentlemanly civility and general repsect for the office of the President took a turn for the worst during President Bush's terms-- but he and his advisors made far-reaching bad decisions repeatedly to help fan the flames.

Our current President hasn't been in office long enough and hasn't done damage to deserve the disrespect he is receiving.

Two wrongs never made anythinig right.

Gotta get back to work.

He actually voted for the bill that demanded illegals be treated at the ER's around the country.

On Wednesday night, Rep. Joe Wilson [R, SC-2], shouted "You lie!" at President Obama when he said that the healthcare bill would not cover illegal immigrants.
Here is the quote from this lying Republican.
"The supporters of the government takeover of healthcare and liberals who want to give healthcare to illegals are using my opposition as an excuse to distract from the critical questions being raised about this poorly conceived plan,"Wilson said the next day in a campaign fundraising video.

However, in 2003, Wilson voted to provide federal funds for illegal immigrants' healthcare. The vote came on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, which contained Sec. 1011 authorizing $250,000 annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrants. The program has been extended through 2009 and there is currently a bipartisan bill in Congress to make it permanent.

So who is the liar????
Lessee... given the way that you've... erhm! ... prevaricated in the past on just about every issue you've ever discussed...

First of all - your bulletin in RED above is misleading at best. Read your own fine print. Wilson is said to have voted to allow a mere $250,000! of federal money to be used to help cover some of the expenses local hospitals incur by performing the federally mandated chores they have of providing health care to anyone who shows up.

Under our current federal laws (and most states) - everyone and anyone who shows up in a hospital presenting symptoms of any illness or injury MUST be treated. Until 2003, they were treated at the expense of the local hospital and its paying base of patients.

After "Sec. 1011" - the over 5,764 registered hospitals in the United States can now split $250,000 to cover this otherwise unfunded federal mandate. That's $43.37 per hospital.

Besides, what do you care about health care? I thought that you were one who refused to "limit God..." Why don't you just show up in the hospitals of America and heal all the sick and injured - legal, illegal, terrestrial, extra-terrestrial... everybody? "I'm always amazed at the boundaries that you put on God!"

And for what it's worth... less than two weeks later and Obama himself has come right out and said that he did "lie" to Joe Wilson, the Joint Session of Congress and everyone of us:

Re: Hypocrite screams you lie

Congressman Kevin Brady, Representing Texas' 8th Congressional District
For Immediate Release
September 16, 2009

Brady Letter on METRO Conditions on 9/12/09

Washington, D.C. -

Mr. John B. Catoe, Jr.
General Manager
Washington Metro Area Transit Authority
600 5th Street, N.W.
Washington, DC 20001

To Mr. Catoe:

I write this letter on behalf of my constituents of the 8th Congressional District of Texas – many of whom traveled at great expense and time to our nation’s capital to exercise their right of free speech in the Taxpayer March on D.C. which was held on Saturday, September 12. These individuals came all the way from Southeast Texas to protest the excessive spending and growing government intrusion by the 111th Congress and the new Obama Administration.

Based upon numerous eye-witness reports by participants in the march, it is clear METRO did not adequately prepare for the influx of Americans traveling to D.C. for this historic event. I want an explanation why.

During the march, I heard complaints from elderly veterans in wheel chairs who were denied use of the subway because not enough METRO cars were available and the METRO cars that did arrive were full to overflowing capacity.

An 80 year old woman and her 60 year old daughter were forced to walk – and eventually pay for a cab – due to overcrowded conditions on the METRO. I heard many such complaints. These participants, whose tax dollars were used to create and maintain this public transit system, were frustrated and disappointed that our nation’s capital did not make a greater effort to simply provide a basic level of transit service for them.

METRO was certainly aware of the march due to widespread media attention ahead of time. While the turnout was certainly much larger than predicted, it appears that METRO added no additional capacity to its regular weekend schedule.

I request that METRO promptly provide my office with a full summary of all preparations and actions taken by the agency ahead of and during the gathering, especially related to additional capacity, service, and security.

Sincerely,

Kevin Brady

Thank you, Pel! I was reading this article as you posted! LOL!

Quote:
"Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don't simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken," Mr. Obama said Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. "That's why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else.

Mr. Obama added, "If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all."

Republicans said that amounts to an amnesty, calling it a backdoor effort to make sure current illegal immigrants get health care.

Ever "pay for a cab" in DC? Last time I was there it was a governmentally subsidized $5.00 for a ride between any two points in the District. The elderly you bemoan actually had it pretty good. For about the cost of a Metro train ride they were transported in the comfort of a private cab.

And you should still be happy. Taxpayers covered the expense of the cab just like the taxpayers fund the Metro system. It's free ride in Washington DC - however you go. All you gotta do is show up.
