My experience is different. And it could be because I'm far away from God, or it could be that God really doesn't speak to people, or it could be that God picks and chooses for whatever reason (like He does for all types of miracles).
BTW, there have been many times when I
thought God was speaking to me, in the past. Not sure I would have been adamant about that claim, as some are, but it made sense to me at the time. Looking back, there is no way I could have known if He did or did not.
Perhaps you have a special method that I didn't have, somehow incapable of mistaking a thought of your own from a thought planted specifically by God. Can you share this method with us? "My sheep hear my voice" is not good enough, of course. Anyone could
think they know God's voice but be mistaken. You might put Mormons in that boat, e.g. Lining up with God's word doesn't prove it, either. Plenty of self-produced thoughts could do that, and especially for someone who knows the word very well.
