You are right. It was a 16 year old girl that borrowed a cell phone. I hadn't heard that they found her, but I haven't followed the continuing story.

If true then this is even more disturbing.
Are we to believe children can be kidnapped without evidence??
There should have been enough evidence to require DNA samples of every single person in that community. If they did not have enough evidence for that, then surely there is NO compelling reason to steal all the children! The media and Texas is spinning this big time... "The state Texas intends to place all the children in foster care" What?? Without evidence??

From what I've heard, she was married at 15, and had a baby, and is NOW 16, married to a 50-year old man.
Last night I caught a bit of Anderson Cooper interviewing a lady (Kathleen something) from the compound. She likened what happened to them being taken to a tiny holding facility which was overcrowded and had only 2 bathrooms, with what happened to the Jews at the Nazi war camps.
Anyway...afterwards they were trying to get clear information about who the girl was that called, and where she called from. They kept saying she may have called from Colorado City, and is in AZ. Not too sure on that info, and apparently neither were they.

My impression from what I watched this morning on TXCN... They have them in a shelter until they have the "rest" of the needed evidence to move them to foster care. So 1 they arent in foster care yet apparently.. and 2 they must have some evidence or they wouldnt have said rest?????????Maybe???

My husband said the authorities have been watching this compound for a long time.

Yeah, without evidence. They have an ACCUSATION. That's all they need to protect the children.

Stephen, the states first concern were the children and the children's children. They allowed the Mother's of the children and grandchildren to come with them. When you have children as young as 13 that have babies or are pregnant they need to be removed from the situation. They have to test all the babies and all the men. But the first thing is to remove ALL children from harm's way. However you cannot hold anyone under Texas law for more than 48 hours without evidence to detain them. That is why the men have remained in the compound. But there will be no young girls left behind for them to rape and impregnate. The state of Texas is finally doing what they can under the law. They are not doing it to separate families they are doing it to protect the children. It is not about relegion at all or government control.

Pregnant children are the evidence and children with babies are evidence. Hard to hide that.

I know she called and reported being given to this man and being beaten and abused. I think there is enough evidence from proceeding situations which inferred that it is a common occurrence in this type of sect.
I can see why the authorities went in, but the question remains - where will they stop?

Re: Whoa! Polygamist solution is frightening...
It's just seems whatever the evidence is... they should be using that to retain the perpetrators of the crime - not holding the victims against their will.
BTW-- I am sure there is little doubt that some crimes have been committed.
