One reason that I reject the 24 hour motif in Genesis 1 is because the seventh day does not have "evening and the morning" for the seventh day.
The entire chapter of Genesis 1 begs for an alagorical approach but it is truly a golden calf to many and will not venture to examine its prophetic under pinnings.
God bless
This is why chapter 1 seems to be an ultra condensed history of the entire Universe, or at least mans time in it. We see day 1 through 7 described, and then we go back to day 6 starting in chapter 2 and going forward. We are STILL living in day 6.
You do not know how refreshing your communication was to me today. We have labored for years and have endured our share of abuse and it is good to hear positive feedback every now and then. The nature of our teaching is not designed for the weak kneed or for those who desire to be recieved by the status quo. That being said we understand that the abuse comes with the territory. If we cannot take the heat we need to get out of the kitchen.
Thanks again,
Your Brother
Francis G. Febus
What kind of abuse have you endured?

If you want to see my approach to the Creation delima, read the excerpt on our new book below. I think it may answer a few questions regarding the subject. It is chapter 7 entitled Covenant Creation.

You just might be surprised at what you find.
Our new book entitled,"The Prophecy of Genesis 1," is under construction but we will issue its chapters as they are completed. It is a huge project and will take some time to complete, therefore we will release the 7th chapter for your perusal. It is entitled,"All things were Created by Him."
I live about 30 miles from the Creation Museum which is located in northern Kentucky. Their web site is: http://creationmuseum.org/
They promote what is called "the young earth."
This is a picture (poor quality) from one of their displays.
It seems they promote the idea of a literal man and woman (that we know as Adam and Eve) created by God.
There is a new church in our area. It is called the Red Door Church. Their web site is http://www.iamreddoor.org/
Here is something from their statement of beliefs about creation:
3. Creation of Humanity We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in his own image. Adam and Eve belonged to the created order that God himself declared to be very good, serving as God’s agents to care for, manage, and govern creation, living in holy and devoted fellowship with their Maker. Men and women, equally made in the image of God, enjoy equal access to God by faith in Christ Jesus and are both called to move beyond passive self-indulgence to significant private and public engagement in family, church, and civic life. Adam and Eve were made to complement each other in a one-flesh union that establishes the only normative pattern of sexual relations for men and women, such that marriage ultimately serves as a type of the union between Christ and his church. In God’s wise purposes, men and women are not simply interchangeable, but rather they complement each other in mutually enriching ways. God ordains that they assume distinctive roles which reflect the loving relationship between Christ and the church, the husband exercising headship in a way that displays the caring, sacrificial love of Christ, and the wife submitting to her husband in a way that models the love of the church for her Lord. In the ministry of the church, both men and women are encouraged to serve Christ and to be developed to their full potential in the manifold ministries of the people of God. The distinctive leadership role within the church given to qualified men is grounded in creation, fall, and redemption and must not be sidelined by appeals to cultural developments

Oh, they are the quintessential followers of a Young Earth/God of the gaps viewpoint.
I just wanted to say that after reading your posts for a while on various subjects you have a refreshingly well rounded view on a lot of things. I really enjoy your posts.
