Re: Banned from AMF
Somebody pointed out this exchange on Facebook to me recently:
Wouldn't this be an example of the kind of conundrum the "Three Steppers" like "St. Matthew" constantly find themselves in?
"God makes not promise to bless compromise..."
Does that include the "compromise" of quoting an ardent Trinitarian who rejected baptism as a mean for salvation and railed against the extremism of the "holy rollers?"

How is that a compromise? Is what Spurgeon said true or not?

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

What were the things that Spurgeon refused to compromise on?
Isn't it a bit like quoting the Pope when he says, "The Christian faith must be followed..." ?
... or quoting John Wayne Gacy when he says, "It's great to have kids in the neighborhood!"

Truth is truth, whether quoted by a saint or sinner.

So we should follow the truth that Spurgeon espoused in his quote? We should stand strong on the truth of the Virgin Birth, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the Doctrine of the Trinity?
No compromise! "God in three Persons!" No compromise!
The most excellent study for expanding the soul is the science of Christ and Him crucified and the knowledge of the Godhead in the glorious Trinity. – Charles Spurgeon

Why is this thread still going?
Did you all solve anything with this thread?
Why must people be so unkind to others, we should be nice and peaceful.
Why not have a discussion about baking bread, or making fig yogurt?
Yummy
Now wouldn't that be nice?

Re: Banned from AMF
I have this to say about all that has been written on this thread.
I personally have heard Kenneth Haney in his messages say "through all the years since Calvary, there has ALWAYS been a remnant of the early church. Even in the dark ages, there has always been a Jesus Name people... " this is NOT a verbatim quote, but in the context of his message and what/how he was saying - it would seem that he believes there has always been an Acts 2:38 church..... I have heard him say this on several occasions. (Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have remembered it.) He was my pastor for MANY years.....

That would somewhat contrast with his dad's teaching of "Friends of the Bride".

????? Does everything "you" teach and preach line up exactly as your dad taught/preached it?
And..... I'm NOT saying he does or doesn't believe in "Friends of the Bride" - I'm only saying what I personally have heard him say from the pulpit.
