Ah good thought I would like to express my veiw on the subject. First throw religion out the door it has gotten us nowhere. Religion is the atempt to know God by knowledge and understanding and this does not work. We know God by relationship by faith in Christ and then his word opens up to us through personal study.
2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
The word of God is a personal guide book to the individual not given to pastors to interperit and then give to the layity.
Php 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
And for that matter we don't have to have to bible to have a personal relationship with God, but it is benificial. Christian had relationship with God for many years without access to the word. I think we have a tendancy to forget this in this world where the bible is the number one best seller, and published in every language.
To further make my point we don't need have all knowledge in everything this is where we begin to have problems. People do in fact feel they need to know all things good and evil. This is contrary to the plan of God he wants us to gain knowledge of good only.
Rom 16:19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
So yes we can be destroyed by the wrong knowledge, but not pure knowledge.
