I had no pain killers at all. Just a LOT of breathing.

Okay guys. I am really really sorry, but we were in the hospital for more than 20 hours, and I haven't really slept much since. Today is Sunday the 22nd. I do not know exactly how to tell everyone this, but we didn't have the baby yet. Heather went into false labor (braxton hicks), due to her age and other medical problems that she had in the past, it even fooled the doctors. They tried to induce labor, but the baby wasn't going to cooperate. I truly apologize for getting your hopes up. She is supposed to go back to the DRs early this week. She is very sore and exhausted. I will fill you all in later when we have the baby. She isn't actually due until the 2nd of May, and her Doctor may try to induce her labor again. Once again, I apologize. God bless you all!

Uncommon side effect: if the epidural is administered in an environment that is not sterile, an infection can occur, and the woman can die.

I think someone missed reading this part.

Typically, the epidural isn't administered until the birth is expected to be less than an hour away. Then again, nobody can really predict these things, can they?

Drowsiness is a baby isn't a bad thing. Most of the time, Cesarean babies are born that way due to the anesthetics given to the mother. Obviously, we don't want drowsy babies, but if that's the reason one will refuse an epidural, well, have at it.

The statement was also made that epidurals aren't done that much anymore. In fact, it's the most common form of pain control during childbirth.
