An official with the Minnesota Management and Budget department says ACORN and a separate group, ACORN Housing, received $109,000 in state funds between 1996 and 2008. He said no state funds currently go to either of the groups.

Just last year. I'm sure the Gov. wants to be sure they are not still receiving funds. That would be his job. Their could be some other affiliates involved. We will have to wait and see.

Obviously they have problems and need to be either punished or disbanded, but are they as big as their coverage? I honestly don't know. I guess I'll have to look into it.

Twist do you actually believe Fox News and the wackos, that those fraudulent registrations actually went on the voter rolls?
Any reasonable person if they will stop and think for a second will know that the starting line of the Dallas cowboys did not vote in Nevada and again in their home state. Oh Yes I forgot where did Mickey and Minne Mouse vote? When you hire street people paid according to the number of people registered you will get fraudulent papers. I fault Acorn for hiring street people to register people.

FYI! Looks like Governor Pawlenty is just doing his job.

Update: Amid 'tough week' of turmoil, Minnesota ACORN folks say they're continuing outreach work
With all the flurry of action in Washington over the recent national ACORN scandal, and Gov. Tim Pawlenty's quick executive decision to end all state funding for the group (although there's apparently been none since May, 2008), we wanted to look at what the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now does here in Minnesota.
"We can't say anything," said the woman behind the desk.
"Can't someone tell me about all the things you do in Minnesota? How about the good things?"
"No. You have to call Washington."
"Do they know better than the folks here what happens in Minnesota?"
"That's who you have to call."
I did and left a message, but no calls back from national officials.
We do know that ACORN Minnesota has seven chapters: three in Minneapolis, three in St. Paul and one At-Large,.....
"At Governor Pawlenty's direction, Minnesota Management & Budget has begun a review of the state's accounting system ... Initial findings show the last transaction with this organization was in 2008. The table below lists all state transactions readily available with ACORN:

Re: Johanns Amendment to De-fund Acorn
The vote may not cause Acorn as much pain as I'd like to see, but at least now they'll have to watch their back.
The publicity can't be good!

Right!! And as much as people think the Tea Parties were against this current Administration, it should be a wake-up call toward the Republican Party as well. We the people........

In Ohio, when people registered they could also vote at the same time. I doubt if there are any reliable numbers for how many people registered and voted fraudulently. There were more registered voters in some areas than there were people. I don't know how any of those registered voters did their voting at the time they were registered.

Re: Johanns Amendment to De-fund Acorn
Because of all this publicity, ACORN has stated that they will be doing an internal investigation.
On Facebook today, someone said,
"ACORN doing its own internal investigation is like having a tax cheat as the Secretary of the Treasury"
