very few large churches fit that description. I know some small ones that fit it more than large ones do.

Thereby my caviat that most of those small churches don't end up growing. But there are some large churches who follow the script. Oh they sound good and look good...but they don't have very many people helping pray in the altar...again...SOME not most.

There is another thread going now about church numbers and all, but one thing I have noticed in my 20 years+ in the UPC, they probably have lost more people than they win. If these kinds of statistics are kept, I bet the existing church is but a thumbnail compared to those who have came in, got converted then left.

Keeping from losing people is sometimes more vital than getting them in the first place.

That revolving door can be a killer sometimes...if there is "growth" but the avg. stays the same...is it growth?

Re: **NORTH DAKOTA** Have you heard???????@@@@

Both of these Brothers mentioned in this thread are great men of God! They have stood for truth and the old paths for years. I personally know of the sacrifices these brethern have made during their life time to preach the word of God. If you are looking for someone related to these men, it's me. Both of these men are my uncles and I am proud (with a Godly pride) of them! Bro. Walters and Bro. Thurston will stand in judgement against some of our "so called" preachers who are only in it for prestige and offerings.

In terms of work, agriculture and minimum wage retail and service industry are the only things I can recall.

Of course, I can see the preachers clamoring to go there now.
Sure would take lot of minimum wage earning tithe payers to support most ministers in the manner they and their family have become accustomed to.

JEKYLL, your thoughts on people saying there are only two churches there in N.D ?????

who is it that's related to Bro. Walters and I wanna know the TRUTH!!

Anyone know James Merrick in WI? .........
A little late on this one...but to set the record straight------
James Merrick (ultra ultra con) did pastor a few years in Green Bay, WI area; but he pastored church in Duluth, MN from 1969 to 20--; he is now semi retired and travels alot preaching and teaching.
He was MN DS from 1971 until approx 2000. Not sure of year he wasn't re-elected.
