Why I returned to UPC!!!!!!!!!

I was raised Catholic. I always knew there was only one God. He was far away in heaven. I believed Jesus is Messiah, the Son of God. I could never understand how He as a man in heaven could become a baby. when I was 25 I was baptized into the First Christian Church. I was good on Sunday and lived like the devil the rest of the time. In 1991, during the Persian Gulf War,I began questioning what I was taught. I believe all the prayer nationwide during that time was a big key to my searching.

A tragedy happened and God sent a oneness person to me.Actually she was a messianic jewess who believed in Jesus. She showed me Act 2:38. I saw it and believed and obeyed. I still knew nothing about the Holy Ghost. She baptized me in the name of Jesus. I called my son and told him that he needed to be baptized again, this time in the name of Jesus. Two days later God sent someone to him to confirm what I had told him. So he also obeyed. Months later I visited an Apostolic Pentecostal church. It is there I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

In 17 years I have never stopped speaking in tongues. It is the Holy Ghost interceding for me to my Father. What a difference. I felt such love. I was there for 15 years. I learned everything I could and avidly studied the scriptures. I became distressed over some issues, so I prayed to the Lord to show me how He sees these issues. He new my heart and so I left UPC for 1 and a half years. I went to an evangelical church. They have the Holy Ghost. They love God.

personally recieved a physical healing there. But I had been baptized into the deep rivers of pentecost and after a year and a half felt so dry. The Lord answered most of my issues. I have the right to wear jewelry. It is not a sin. But I finally understood that if I had to take off the jewelry and the makeup to have the deep flow then that is what I would do. It is a sacrifice of love to the Lord, not a rule.God honors the offer of sacrifice.

It is freely given to Him from me and that is what the Lord wants from all of us.I is a deep level of consecration and worth it all. I say to all of you who blast the others who wear jewelry and makeup, youd better be careful because Jesus said if they are for me they cannot be against me, and who is anyone to judge anothers servant. These people belong to God and it is He who searches the hearts. I will also say to those who are still trinitarian this scripture: Acts 19.

The apostle Paul found some disciples and asked them if they had the Holy Ghost and they said we have not so much as heard of the Holy Ghost. Paul said what baptism were you baptized with and they said, Johns baptism. Paul said John baptized for repentance, but you must be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins and be filled with the Holy Ghost with speaking in tongues. So they obeyed and were {again }baptized, this time in Jesus name. Please, read this chapter for yourself: it really is there.

Please dont allow pride to keep you from obeying this scripture. Please, just take the next step and be rebaptized. Even the Apostles were baptized with Johns baptism and {again} baptized in Jesus name. So I went back to the UPC. Do I now agree with everything? NO!! But I have found that there is no other place where the deepness of the Holy Ghost is found. Ive been in Kenneth Hagins church, Ive been in Billy Joe Daughertyis church, Oral Roberts church. All godly men but none with the deepness.

Because I believe the difference is obedience to baptism in Jesus name. I will allow no pride to keep me from the full gospel power that is mine. Please I appeal to you as a believer , TAKE THE NEXT STEP!

Re: Why I returned to UPC!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is that as soon as I stopped trying to speak in tongues and trust God by faith I have had a great peace and the Holy Spirit constantly works in my life. You found something in the Water and I found something in the Word. I guess whatever works to get us on fire for God is ok.

Re: Why I returned to UPC!!!!!!!!!

hadassah, truth is a powerful thing. I currently go to a trinitarian church, God has me there for now. I was in a UPC church and backslid, after many years God has brought me back to him and the truth. But this time around God has wanted me to see something beyond my sight. And many a time, I've had to keep me mouth shut. They get the Holy Ghost and have good messages, but lack the power and glory. I thank my Lord that he has me in training and enought truth to take a stand and stand still. I stand alone here but He is with me in a most powerful way. I have kept the holiness standard and will not back down on Bapitism or Holiness. God does work in so many ways that it amazes me to no end.

one thing I do know, be thankful you have a God given preacher that will stand and tell you to get ready for his coming. He's coming back for a church, who will be that church? the ones who will still in the truth of his word and not make excuses, or refuse to obey the full word.

I also thank the ministers that put their word out there for people like me to hear and feed on the word. I love hearing a man of God bring forth the truth and wisdom of God.
If God needs to whip me then so be it. It's more important to make it then to worry that my feelings may get hurt.

I'm so glad to hear you say, you came back and more than that you seen what God wanted you to see and know. May God give you wisdom and knowledge of his way.
The bible says "His way are not our ways". But that is my prayer. " Lord let your ways become my ways!" Your thoughts become my thoughts. Christian is to be Christ Like.
Bless you!

Im glad I don't have to try to speak in tongues...it just happens by faith. That deep move of God? Has nothing to do with doctrines of jewelry and stuff. It happens when people are hungry, full of faith and are praying.

Re: Why I returned to UPC!!!!!!!!!

What is deeper than the cross? What is more powerful than the blood of Christ? You say you haven't stopped speaking in tongues in 17 years and that is wonderful, but do you feel that speaking in tongues validates you or defines you? Jesus validates you, Christ is your identity. If you're happy in the UPC, and happy living that lifestyle of deep consecration I do not criticize it. I just know that Jesus loves me. I don't have to do more, or work more or strive for more than Him. He simply asks me to believe. He has done all of the work. I obey Him and follow His commands because I want to and because I love Him. I don't obey Him perfectly. I fail often. But I know He is in me and at work in me living His life through me.

Re: Why I returned to UPC!!!!!!!!!

It dosen't mater how good you are, if your not taken his name in baptizim you are none of his. It is like living with someone and not being married to them.
Joh 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Heb 11:32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
Heb 11:33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Heb 11:34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Heb 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
Heb 11:36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
Heb 11:37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
Heb 11:38 (Of whom the world was not worthy they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
Heb 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
Heb 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

When does one take on the Name of Jesus, when a third party speaks a formula over them, or when that one "calls on the Name of the Lord" in faith, having believed that He is the Savior????

You have a construct that filters everything thru your tradition, God is bigger and simpler than any tradition.

While I believe it is Scriptural for the name of Jesus Christ to be spoken during prayer, exorcism, baptism, etc, I do not believe that utterance is some kind of magic incantation. If we are doing something in His name or by His authority or exercising our delegated authority, go ahead and say the name, speak the name of the One in whose name you are acting.

However, the Scriptures do say (by the prophet Joel, by the Apostle Peter, and by the Apostle Paul) that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. When we call, He answers and receives us unto Himself and places us into His Body so we are called by His name.

Re: Why I returned to UPC!!!!!!!!!

Gal.3:27 "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ", or
clothed with Christ.

When does a wife take on the name of her husband! Is it after the ceremony and then
a pronouncement that they are now man and wife? The actual "becoming as one" is
when they are joined together as one! I believe when our spirit is united with the Holy
Spirit is when we become one with HIM! But there are preparations before that that
bring us to that point of Oneness.

When a man asks a woman to be his wife, there is the acceptance, then the prepara-
tions, and then the ceremony. Then the consumation of the marriage!
She has a new identity. His name becomes her name! One man, one woman and
one NAME!

My thoughts anyway...!
