Re: A Soft Sugar Cookie Recipe...

I will get the responses started by saying I am VERY interested in taste testing these! I am an expert in rating cookie softness.

Good Sugar Cookies

3/4 bup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 t. vanilla
3 cups flour
3/4 t. salt
1/2 t. soda
1/2 T. baking powder

Cream butter, add sugar gradually, add eggs one at a time. Mix well. Add flavoring to sour cream. Sift together flour and dry ingredients. Add cream.

Can be dropped by spoon or rolled out and cut.

Chill. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes - frost!

If you store them with a slice of bread it will get very hard and keep the cookies soft.

Soft Sugar Cookies

* 1 cup butter, softened
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 2 eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
* 2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
* 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

* FROSTING:
* 1/4 cup butter, softened
* 3 cups confectioners' sugar
* 1 teaspoon almond extract
* 2 tablespoons hot water
* Food coloring

DIRECTIONS

1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, vanilla and almond extract. Combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; gradually add to creamed mixture.
2. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Remove to wire racks to cool.

3. For frosting, in a large mixing bowl, combine the butter, confectioners' sugar, almond extract and enough water to achieve desired consistency. Tint with food coloring if desired. Frost the cookies.

Re: A Soft Sugar Cookie Recipe...

This is the one I use because it's easy and I don't do the rolling out and cutting thing! My niece called me after Christmas to get my recipe, she loved them so much.

Vanilla Wafer Cookies

1/2 c. butter (softened)
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 T. vanilla extract
1 1/3 c. unbleached flour
3/4 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture.

Drop by Tablespoons 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 min or until golden brown.

Icing:

3 c. sifted confectioner's sugar
1/4 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt

You know what to do! LOL!

We are coming to the banquet!!!!! We are all ministers. Just to remind you.
