I saw that scripture in Jeremiah 10 around 2005 and I never looked back! This is my second xmas in an indep assembly that doesn't celebrate that holiday/holy day, and it is so liberating to me to not be at the UPC assembly where it was celebrated for the first few years I was saved and have to keep quiet!
In fact, it was last night that me and my sister were looking at our mutual church friends thru her facebook (I don't have one, so I look thru her's) and we saw a young married couple with a baby on the way, and I know that the wife was raised in a house that didn't celebrate xmas, but they had put up a tree and it stirred something in me. The grandchild of her parents will be in a home with that holiday/holy day and its symbols, and if I know the wife's parents, they're not intruding, they're probably just praying and beng patient, and I join with them, hoping that what they taught their daughter about xmas will not die with her, but will go on and pass to another generation.
Brethren, we're getting to a day where it's harder and harder to hold this truth up, commercialism is rampant these days and there is so much desire to give in, but I thank GOD for being called out of the darkness, into HIS light, and I know that if I touch not the unclean thing or learn the way of the heathen, I will stand before HIM one day and HE'll welcome me in!
I am so excited this holiday/holy day season to proclaim the Truth of GOD's Word, and I hope to hear from others on AFF who will be doing the same and what your feelings and experiences are concerning this holiday/holy day.

-Bro. Alex
Just the fact you called it Xmas says it all.

You can keep the commercialism.

But when I am sitting down on Christmas day and reading to my kids from
the first verses in Matthew.

As I have for 17 years for my oldest and 13 for my youngest.

What they remember most is me reading about the birth of Christ.

And them asking me questions...

Maybe you should grab your kids and teach them about his birth.

Get less bent on sharing with them why you don't celebrate the birth of our saviour...

I dont care if you do in on Sept 21st, middle of May just share it with them...

Calling it Xmas is exactly what commerialism/Secularism is all about.

St Luke 2:10 - For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, Which is Christ the Lord.

We do not know the exact day.

But no where are we commanded not to celebrate a day in celebration of his birth.

Wow, that really shot December 25th in the head. I guess my family is off the hook, we can sleep in late on that day.

Eating with a fork started with the pagans.

We are not worshipping our tree as much as we are not worshipping the fork.

I take that back from most Apostolic churches, I have attended over the past 44 years.

Many do worship with the fork...

We are not Roman Catholics, we don't celebrate Mass. Do you have a mid week service, or a mid week Mass? Do you go to morning service or morning Mass? Do you attend Sunday service, or Sunday Mass?

Anyway the "X" is the first letter in Χριστός "Christ."

My children will know more Bible by the age of 17 than most preachers.
They get the Word everyday in English and in Greek.

Difference is, no one is calling a fork Christian.

I have attributed money as the sole reason why so many over the years.

Received the revelation of not celebrating Christmas.

It sure was funny to see them get married and have to deal with the new family.

They all found Dec 25th to be a great day all over again...

Not one person I know who doesn't celebrate the Catholic Tree Mass, did it because of money.

My children, understand the what and why about xmas. They know it's origin, and they know that December 25th is the sun god Mithra's birthday. Now, why would I want to shatter their dreams and take that truth away from them and replace it with a sham leftover from the Catholics.

People who don't believe in a Trinity but keep the tinsel tree?

No one is calling a Christmas tree anything more than a decoration.

Just like a fork is an instrument used to eat.

We can argue all day about ornaments.

But you can't deny the birth of Jesus Christ.

Christmas and the debate over the use of the word Christ is the last secular battle field to be faught.

I am glad to see so many Christians have surrendered without a fight.

If you want to quote Winston Churchill:

June 4, 1940
House of Commons

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender!
