This argument MIGHT be valid if 100 years from now these are things commonly sold in the boy's section of the department store and culturally accepted.

Are YOU ok with this institutionalized double standard?????

Thus the reason for this thread. This is the direction many UPC churches are heading.
Since the cons teach that it's a salvation issue,I want more input from the Right on this but so far they are silent for the most part.

I see nothing wrong with requiring a certain dress code to be involved in ministry

Hell is hell brother and not even a UPC membership card is going to be enough to save some.

I know you believe that God will move on a woman who wears pants. Yet some would say that if she does not put a skirt on afterwards -- well she is going to hell.
For me, StMark, this is "it", (above) in a nutshell.

Fear isn't why I don't "get involved" in some debates. I just don't see the point in banging my head against a brickwall sometimes.
I believe most here who post, are in fact who they are, though I know some are a made up personas (maybe someone else thay'd rather be). And, yes, we DO need to be careful on forums!

First off, I gonna say I just came across this 3 hours ago and have read all of it. I must say I have thoughly enjoyed this topic! Laughter is such good medicine!
I agree with probably all that disagree with you StMark. LOL Sorry.

I was not brought up in any "traditions". I have not been "engrained" with standards or any Biblical .....ah applications(?) I am one looking in from the outside, adopted into the vine by God himself. I am a first generation Penni !
I understand your "concern" , but let God be God. Let Him do the work in a person.

There are 2 scriptures that pop out to me after reading all the posts. But before I post them, my thoughts are, that the "Church" will endure to the end, brother. The clothes that we wear are temperal. The Holy Ghost is forever. All the marks, cuts, tatoos, body piercing, fads of fashions cannot keep us from God and they will all fade away, ...in a blink of an eye. These things are the least of our worries. We are in a fight for our very souls.
We shouldn't exasperate each other. I have had too many strick and harsh, exasperating people in my life and it has only proven to distance myself from them. I have witness kids growing up in the upc under strick rule and thumb only to go plum crazy as soon as they left home! We want what we cant have.
The generation before you was shocked at your beliefs and standards, and so will we be shocked at the next generation to come. The true church will survive in all of this.
I know it's not everything I wanted to say and it's probably not what you wanted to hear.
Here are the scriptures:
Eph.6:10-13-

10.Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11.Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
12.For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13.Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

James 4:1-12-
1.What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?
2.You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God.
3.When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
4.You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
5.Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely?
6.But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."
7.Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8.Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9.Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.
10.Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
11.Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.
12.There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you--who are you to judge your neighbor?

Peace be with with brother.

Yes we need to be careful but when you teach that someone is going to hell for something, then that becomes a matter of life or death. at that point should one be careful?there are preachers on these forums that believe it's salvational yet remain silent. those who do not believe dress code matters are not afraid to make their voice heard. It's only those who DO that remain quiet.

That doesn't surprise me. It doesn't stop me from being friends or posting, but AFF is an ultra liberal Xpenny forum for the most part. I accept that.

I agree here- I've been around the extremes- could tell some stories that many don't believe
The generation before you was shocked at your beliefs and standards, and so will we be shocked at the next generation to come. The true church will survive in all of this.
I can see that. and I'm pretty open minded for the most part. I think what has alarmed me is, I've seen some in the last few years that had deeps roots in holiness who left years ago who are now toying with the idea of things I wont mention- far left liberal ideology even by mainstream society. The question I ask is, where does it end???
I know it's not everything I wanted to say and it's probably not what you wanted to hear.
