Now if the pastor see someone and ask about why they haven't been to church and lets them know he is praying for them, that is a horse of a different color.
Pressure on why they haven't come to church will run them off or make them feel like they have to offer some sort of excuse...maybe lie.
A good pastor doesn't put pressure on a saint that has missed church for any reason.
They trust the Word of God to do what He can do alone and pray. And they trust the power of the Holy Ghost to do his job.
That is if the saint is in fact in danger spiritually.
Many have this notion that missing 2 services equals being backslidden.

Sounds like we have some habitual church missers on the AFF. Real surprise there!
Pastors are caught between a rock and a hard place. If they don't ask why the saint missed, then they obviously don't care for the sheep. If they do ask, then they are harassing and controlling. It's tough, to be sure.
Most folks who have a legitimate reason for being out, such as sickness or emergencies, are more than happy to let the pastor know. It's those with a guilty conscience that get defensive.
