What constitutes a 'move of God'?!

After reading Steady's powerful post re trembling under the power and unction of the Holy Ghost, I am wondering...is there one thing that we can pinpoint and say that this is proof positive that we have witnessed a mighty move of God?!

Some would say if they have tongues and interpretation, that is it...

Others would point to a word of prophesy or running and shouting and no preaching because it broke loose in praise as evidence "we had church!!"

Is it?!

I am not sure if you can pinpoint ONE thing and say "that is the move of God" . I like all of ways God moves.... I enjoy the dancin and shoutin...It revives me.... I enjoy the teaching with very lil preaching because then the annointed word gets in my heart... I love preaching because the annointed word of God will and conviction will draw me to the altar.... I love the services where it seems all you do is cry. You know, those times when it is like God is letting you see yourself through his eyes.... It is a time of cleansing.. I've had a move of God many many times alone....Then those were the times that God has broken me and molded me... ...

Barb,

I believe it's proof positive when you walk away from the service knowing and feeling in your heart that you been in the presence of God, that's the only real move of God.

I don't believe there has to be an outward sign. Some of the strongest feelings of God's presence in a service that I have felt there was no shouting, no tongues and intrepretation, but a sweep of HIS spirit that filled the place. That usually only happens when everyone is in one mind and seeking HIM!

Then you want to sing "In His Presence".....or "Holy Ground".

That is how I feel, Renda...not that I am downplaying the outward sign at all and I know you aren't either, but I know what you mean.

While I agree with the Chocolateperson that those things are great, I fear that some have become so hungry for a touch...a move of God that they mistake the demonstration for a sign that God is in the midst, and it's just not always the case, IMO...

I know when I've had a move of God because I leave from HIS presence changed.......not just touched..... I've been touched before that is sometimes just a mere feeling.... But when I've been changed is when It matters........

Reminds me of the song, "i'm so tired of being stirred and not being changed"
I don't want just a touch from God........

True, alot of what we see today are emotions and feelings, but God wants to change us!

Anytime God speaks to his people, you've had church, even if nothing else happens but that. I agree you can shout and dance all over the place and not have a 'real' move of God, but when God speaks, and there is a definate witness in the spirit, and people shout/dance, weep, sing, etc upon hearing that word, then I don't think anyone can deny that there was a mighty move of God.

Yes, I agree, and I am not discounting tongues and interpretation...only state that some can think that some may mistake something for a move when it is not.

Btw, do I know you?!

What we classify as a move of God is all too often the opposite.

It is more often than not a move of people finally surrendering to His will.
