Folks, those that are remaining in the UPCI should lay out the red carpet (at the exit door) for those wanting out! Make it as enjoyable an experience as possible, because you don't want them to change their mind and return!

Oh - fun!! I just now saw all the comments regarding my profound hacking abilities. So, I thought I'd pop up again and give y'all the 411 on how I came about "discovering" the "secret list in progress." I'll throw in a few quotes for fun, considering so much was said, I'd like to address anyone who questioned my methods and motives.

As most of you have figured out - no the site was not "hacked" into... I do find it funny that, Pentecostisalive, you thought that it was highly unlikely that I found the published pages through a good guess and assumed I took the much more complicated and nefarious route of being some sort of hacking expert w/ hacking tools to find public pages.
Just to clear things up - I noticed the site was using .php, and I actually found the public pages on the first guess. I actually was a little bit surprised that they were just up for the viewing.

I know Elfin, and I'd be willing to stake my next year's salary that she used no hacking tools in finding the address for that particular page.
|
Good...you won't be thrown into poverty b/c of me. Your speculations were spot on. I knew it was .php, had a good guess. Oh, and Daniel Alicea and Pelathais - Once I figured it out through that means, it did occur to me to try the Google spider bot, as well (um...not a "hacking tool" btw, for those of you who don't know) - and the page came up there anyway. *shrugs*
Now, regarding technical incompetence vs. the "ethics" of finding a public page on a site that's under construction and sharing it on the board...

I'm not a computer wizard but IMO a test page is just to make sure it's all working, not to actually list IMPORTANT IFO! like a sample page

I make no apologies for doing a really quick less than 30 second "test" to see if /page.php extension got me any content. Yes, obviously the site was "under construction." But the information posted there was on the WORLD WIDE WEB...not even on an unrelated STAGING SITE w/ a totally different ip domain name. *shrugs* Honestly, what people post publicly on the internet is not my concern. If it's meant to be "private" or "privileged" information, there are steps to be taken to protect it. Those steps were not taken in this case. Man, especially w/ the list being a "wish list" of sorts...honestly, how little knowledge do you have to have to realize that posting it on the internet...even "hidden" behind a blank page that says "Under Construction" might not be the wisest course of action.
Now - all that aside - I guess i can kind of understand and be sympathetic for the few of you that feel that just b/c I found the information doesn't mean I should have shared it.
But let me put it this way - despite all the complaining that the pages weren't meant to be public - the information is still up live on the site right now, isn't it?

Is the opposite possible? Possibly but there has been plenty of conjecture that this is the case and so the point you mentioned above should get more press. Sadly, here, I don't think it will.

I kind of forgot the potential of God having a role in all this....honest.

I think that between all this conjecture and bantering from all different sides the truth avoids us. In fact the result of Tulsa is something that is going to disappoint us because it will be as dynamic as a fourth of July fireworks display in the middle of a trailer park.
