Train up a Child

The other day I was feeling pretty sick. I was laying in bed and our 2 year old came in and said, "ooo sick, mommy, oooo not feel well?" I responded, no I don't feel well, baby." He then said, "I pray for you mommy?" Then he laid his little hand on my head and said, "thank you Jesus for this food, amen." I tried not to laugh but it was no use.

Going in for surgery on my neck, fusing c5, c6 and c7, on November 1. Other than that all is pretty much the same. Had a good revival in OK last weekend.

Would love to see you guys!

That is priceless!

When are you and the hubby coming to Nashville for some reason so we can grab coffee, lunch, or dinner?

As I have pointed out to our dear friend, Pianoperson, it is just the same distance from Nashville to here, as it is from here to Nashville.

Soon. We are needing a getaway. The last few trips away involved either a funeral, or preaching somewhere.

Speaking of "Train up a Child". I have a problem!
My six yr old daughter is disrespectful to me, but a pure angel around others (teachers, extended family, and her father). I do punish her (spank, ground, etc) but haven't found the right formula to get the wining to stop, she is constantly trying to negotiate her way out of everything.
We had a HUGE blow up this morning while trying to get ready for school/work, so something has got to give, I have got to set some ground rules with her so that she knows with out a doubt that when she crosses this line there will be consequences. Any advice!

This is common at that age really... I have a 9 yr old who still trys it occasionally. I have to talk to her about it constantly but... I started lately taking her with me everywhere I go pretty much when I am around other people... and she would get mad at me or throw a fit and then realize she was doing this in front of other people and it would really embarrass her and she came home one night and said mommy so n so's kid said I was mean!!! (this was a kid she had always played with but this was the first time they were in the situation with parents around the whole time) and when I explained to her that this child was not used to seeing her in this light.. she goes... Am I like this at home too?

Its like she totally had no clue that she was really acting a certain way at home and other out... she has since quit this at home too... and become very respectful.. Sometimes it takes making them take a long look in the mirror...

Unfortunately, she's usually with me all the time (choir practice, Praise Team practice, church meetings) she rarely misbehaves in front of people, especially not on the scale that she does in private, it's not necessarily tantrums either. It's mostly wining/pouting (which gets under my skin), she is good at negotiating with me, and that's my fault for giving in.

But something has got to change and it might be a culture shock for both of us. Because tonight we are going to have a major reconstruction of rules and consequences.
