Out of respect for Charleston's victims...
...I had planned on waiting until they were buried until making any comments.
But since the NAALCP and the traitorous governor of South Carolina have shown no shame in politicizing their deaths, I now feel no constraints to comment.
A friend of mine made the following statement to his relative in South Carolina who was ecstatic at the Governor's announcement today.....
Quote:
That was nothing more than your governor whoring her integrity and exploiting the tragic deaths in the AME church shooting for her own political expediency.
By her actions, she propagated the ignorant and repeated lie that the flag is, itself, a symbol of hatred and she propagated the absurd idea that the Confederate flag made this terrorist walk into a church and start shooting and murdering.
Rather than correct ignorance and instigation, she chose to appease ignorance... again, for mere political expediency. Rather than addressing the actual issue, she chose to engage a side show that had absolutely nothing to do with the shooting... and she did so because she knew it would win her points with ignorant voters in her state. She did nothing but exploit the victims of this evil act.
She's a harlot.

I'll echo his comments by saying that if she, Tim Scott, or Lindsay Graham think this will win them any points in the next election with the NAACP or the media, they are fools.
I do not see a resolution to remove the flag passing with 2/3 majority necessary in both chambers of the South Carolina legislature, at least without some major compromise like replacing the flag with another Confederate emblem. There is going to be a push back like they never dreamed.

Re: Out of respect for Charleston's victims...
The boy burned an American flag, do we get rid of that as well? And what about the Mosques that the terrorists are coming out of in America? Why aren't we getting rid of them? Why don't we get rid of Mexico's flag? That offends me. I don't like the rainbow flag. Why do they get to continue flying it?
What is the next thing we will have to get rid of because someone has a Dorito on their shoulder.
As usual, a minority is offended and the majority have to suffer.

Sigh....they are damned if they do (by people like you) and damned if they don't.
I am GLAD they chose this path. It's a long time coming. Private citizens can wave that flag all you they want, but it does not belong on a government building.
You are essentially accusing their good act as an act of evil because you seem to believe you know what their true motive is.
This post makes me sad to see

Nobody is trying to ban that flag. It does not belong on the State government buildings, not because of that boy, but because of it's deep rooted feelings in the Souths slave pat.
Federal and State governments don't fly the mexican flag or the rainbow flag nor the Nazi flag.

The lovers of the flag are the ones who in mass voted for and elected black Republican Tim Scott to the senate for South Carolina. On the contrary, it was BLACKS in South Carolina who in mass voted against Tim Scott. Sorry, but Confederates are well past any racism of the past. We believe the war waged against the southern States by the Union was one of greed and tyranny. Thus we honor those soldiers who tried to save our States from what they are faced with today. Yet racial attitudes have evolved and it is still us who are "damned if we do damned if we don't".

It doesn't matter. The Confederate flag goes back to a war that was about the right to own slaves and still represents slavery in the minds of blacks. Would it be ok to fly the Nazi flag.
Also...the confederates. There are no confederates. Confederates is not another word for Republican party.
This isn't about black people voting for someone. This is about an emblem that is grossly offensive to black people being flown OVER the State capital.
You want to honor soldiers that fought for their right to own slaves, do it on your own property.
It represents to blacks the nations ugly past. Get rid of it over state buildings

Re: Out of respect for Charleston's victims...
I never met a black person who was upset about the Battle Flag. In fact I have personally met black men who WORE THE FLAG on a T-shirt, jacket, or ball cap.
The ONLY people I ever met who had a beef with the flag were white people.
Funny thing....

Re: Out of respect for Charleston's victims...
Besides, the whole "race" issue is an orchestrated distraction from two things: Number 1, a state senator was assassinated in a hit made to look like a "mass shooting", and Number 2, TPP is working through the pipeline as we type.
Bread and circuses, smoke and mirrors.

Re: Out of respect for Charleston's victims...
And most of those white people who hate the flag aren't from the South, therefore have no clue what the flag "means" to anybody here, white OR black.
