Growing up, the youth and family camps I attended were for believers only, not sinners. If you had not received the HG and been baptized, you had to have a Pastors endorsement or recommendation. The reason was to give youth and families a week-long retreat away from the influences and temptations of the world. There were other special events and services throughout the year for reaching out to the unsaved. But those two, week-long campmeetings were for believers only.

Re: Church camp registration forms

Interesting! I have never heard this before.

If this is the reasoning, it should be clearly stated.

( I know of some children(girls) who were sent home from youth camp due to skirts not being long enough. Parents did not attend church. Now, many years later these girls do not attend church. It seems that they were kicked out.....not just from camp but from the love that should have been exhibited toward them.)

Re: Church camp registration forms

I was nearly kicked out of a family camp, and registration had barely begun the afternoon of the first day! I was moving my bags into the dorm room and decided it would be funny to light some firecrackers and scare some other guys in the dorm. So I lit up a small pack and tossed it right outside the open window. It worked! It also got me in trouble.

My father spent almost an hour arguing with the District Board members who were there and deciding whether to make me leave or allow me to stay.

I was allowed to stay, but only after I was given a stern lecture and promise for zero tolerance with any future issues.
