If it is God's will for your illness then why are you seeking medical attention to get rid of it?

Andrew Wommack ministries does not believe a person is cursed or going to hell if you don't tithe your money.

Re: List of grace giving churches.

A church could just as easily function on pledges (vows) and free will offerings.

Re: List of grace giving churches.

We inherited the tradition of tithing from the Romans via the Roman Catholics, as best as I can tell. In short, it is a tradition and not a sound doctrine. I have not read all the posts, but it seems many are confused by the fact that tithing existed before and during The Law, but this is easily understood if you think about what a tithe was for. After Adam's fall God required that men of His choosing serve as mediator between Himself and mankind. Tithing was a compensation for the work that they did, work that a man or woman could not do for themselves. Today there is no one on Earth that stands between us and God, so there is no "tithe" needed.

Re: List of grace giving churches.

If you became persuaded that tithing is indeed a tradition rather than a sound doctrine, would you stop giving to the work of God? If the answer is "no" then why do you assume that others would stop giving; are you really so much holier than they? And if the answer is "yes" then you have another problem, and I doubt your "tithing" is pleasing God as much as you think it is. I'm not suggesting that God cannot bless compulsory giving, but if you only give because you believe you must then you are missing the point.

Re: List of grace giving churches.

Even worldly teenagers know that when you go on a road trip with friends everybody should pitch in for gas if they have some money; its just instinctively fair and to fail to do so would mean you are probably not a true friend. The same principle applies to the church today. We are all friends here, or should be, so if you can help pay for the costs associated with the group you are traveling with, do so! Don't hide behind a "10% rule", give what you know YOU can give and don't worry about what your neighbor is doing; he will answer for himself in due time.
There will also be times when God will impress upon you to give a certain amount without anyone else knowing anything about it. I don't have to tell you what you should do in those situations.

Re: List of grace giving churches.

We do not teach a ten percent church tax on members' wages. We teach you give as the Lord leads you to give.

We also don't take up an offering, but we DO teach alms-giving to the poor (every Christian should set aside money to give to the poor or less fortunate, and every local assembly should minister to the poor as well).

I used to attend a congregation that did not pass an offering plate around but instead everyone walked up to the front and placed their offerings in a plate that sat on the edge of the platform.

I think you are right to compare the compulsory 10% contribution we know as "tithing" to a tax. And Israel needed taxes because they were a nation, a nation intended to be run by priests (until they demanded a king.) We are not a nation; there has never been a Christian nation on Earth. Some false teachers claim otherwise not the least of which were the British Anglicans of a few centuries ago who believed themselves to be the "new" Jews.

Priests and tithing go hand in hand throughout history. But unlike many denominations Apostolics do not recognize a distinct priesthood within the faith.

Re: List of grace giving churches.

Are there any Apostolic organizations that do not teach or preach tithing?
