Spiritual Covering.

Do we need from a biblical standpoint a pastor/overseer as a surrogate/covering until death? I know the need of elders/pastors/overseers/watchman [pretty much all the same] for guidance etc. But how long does a person need to be baby sitted?

Who are they giving "an account to"? Those that promote this belief say it is God. I find that silly in seeing they don't know what I'm doing at home.

Can't take anyone with you to the Judgment Seat. I just can't imagine telling the Lord of Heaven that His will for my life was derailed and ignored because I was too busy submitting to someone else.

This doesn't mean I don't believe in submission and accountability. But wherever there is conflict, to the best of my understanding and ability, I obey Jesus only.

Many teach you can't be saved without a pastor. It might be better said you may find it hard to be saved disconnected from the body. It can be rough having no options in an abusive environment. There are many here who are homeless.

It may take some sacrifice and relocate to find and have connection with a body of believers.

Hey bro. If you cant find an honest pastor, let JESUS be your pastor. I bet He would make an awesome Pastor. And He makes house calls in the middle of the night.

I was in a service one time where a district supe preached about not lsing your covering. Of course he meant the U P of C!

I do think new to newer converts need guidance and training, as babes in Christ. They need to be fed and nurtured, allowed to grow, make mistakes, and get back up again.

Elders, pastors, and etc. should be the ones fulfilling such a role. But I repeatedly find the best thing I ever do as one is refer the person to Jesus and offer to pray for and with them.

The Lord knows how to do things and speak things to those who call upon Him way better than us. He's the Wonderful Counselor, after all.
