I need help!!!
I'm 16, turning 17 in June. I need to know, can I legally leave home without my parents consent, when I'm 17, in Missouri. If you wish to know my reasons of leaving, pm me. In your posts, please include a direct link to the information. I do not wish to read a wiki, ask.com answer, or any other type of open forum. This is very important. I already have arrangements with a relative who can and will support me.

If you want to leave home, you should be able to do so right now.
However, just know that you will be putting your relatives in a very bad situation. I hope you're not manipulating them.

This really isn't the place to ask for this kind of advice. If you cannot find the information, I'd suggest using a legal office.
Unless someone on here is a lawyer, no one should be giving legal advice like this.

Re: I need help!!!
Since when has running away from home been a legal issue?
What happens when a runaway is caught?
Are they jailed?

Re: I need help!!!
Legally, runaways have to be returned to the guardians house when found, and anyone who takes in a runaway can be in a lot of legal trouble. I'm wondering if I can leave home and not have to go back at the age of 17.

Are you serious? I know of a few states where it is against the law for anyone under 18 to run away.
I was a volunteer at a youth detention center. Most of the youth there were runaways, many repeat offenders.
Not sure if it's this way in all states, but in my home state the police would cite you if you assisted or helped hide a runaway.
If the parents wish, they could press charges against you. I certainly would if my teen was helped to run away by someone.

It depends on the state. They also can turn you over to the juvenile system.

Re: I need help!!!
Do you know the law in Missouri? Or could you help me find it at least?

Re: I need help!!!
Maybe you should just have a calm and serious talk with your parents, explaining your desire to leave home now.
Who knows, after that conversation, they might just give you what you're asking for.
