I have a sneaking suspicion that it was someone other than an adult who wrote that. It reads an awful lot like many messages left in the comments section following a new story, blog, or review. In today's internet age, they are usually referred to as "trolls".

And being even more jaded than you Randy I wonder if the parents didn't write it themselves for the attention and sympathy it garnered. Otherwise what was to be gained by making it public?

I hadn't even thought of THAT as a possibility until you just now mentioned it. Sort of a case of Munchausen by proxy. As I think about it, it is probably as likely as if another parent in the neighborhood writing it.

More likely IMO... someone who would write a letter like this would have to have substantial social problems apart from this and maybe even significant mental illness.

They would probably already be on everyone's radar and would also not be able to keep thoughts to themselves verbally. I think someone with that kind of disdain would have let slip to others and as soon as the letter came out they'd have been identified.
