Jehovah's Witness

Hey everyone, I recently had a run in with an extremely aggressive JW. What exactly do they believe?

but other than that,
a few weird things,
diff Christmas, no birthdays, etc...
that I pretty much adhere to now

Re: Jehovah's Witness

I believe they teach that Jesus is not God but an archangel.
There will only be a chosen 144,000 to go to heaven. These are select people who are interspersed throughout the history of mankind. (Some of these chosen are alive and somewhat celebrated today).

A bunch of other things that I don't have time to get into...

They are almost all aggressive. Didn't they tell you what they believe?

Jesus is not God but a little god.

If you are not a JW receiving instructions from the WatchTower Bible and Tract society, you are not part of God's organization (and obviously not saved)

Jesus did not bodily rise from the grave. He arose a spirit person

No blood transfusions. If you get one to save your life or the life of a child, you will be excommunicated.

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Jehovah's Witness

I guess I should clarify that those beyond the 144,000 would remain here on the New Earth. I don't believe they believe in an actual hell but that everyone who is not "saved" would just be soul sleeping.

Re: Jehovah's Witness

I remember one time when a JW knocked on my door to give me a Watchtower.

I told her that I would take her literature if she would take one of my Oneness tracts.

She literally backed away from me and told me that she cannot do that.

So I told her that if she won't take my literature, I will not take hers.

Not sure if she shook the dust off her feet as she left....

Re: Jehovah's Witness

I did almost the same thing AreYouReady, a man came and asked if I would take his tract..I did and told him I was Apostolic and gave him a small Bible study on the spot..he wasn't sure what to think. Finally he asked if he could come back and see what I thought about the tract. I said sure, but I'll still be Apostolic because its the truth...I never seen him again :-/ too bad too.

Re: Jehovah's Witness

The Jehovah's Witnesses Bible based religion has a central creed of Jesus return or second coming 'invisibly' in the month of October 1914.
The entire evolution of their intricacies of doctrine is based on this false belief.
The New York city based Watchtower is oppressive cult-like with severe shunning and break-up of families for those who dissent over doctrine.
They have a complex prohibition of 'whole' blood transfusion that gets men, women, children killed.
Moreover, the Watchtower is fabulously bloated with wealth with virtually NO public charity to compensate for their tax free status.
Be informed about this group when they knock on your door.

Re: Jehovah's Witness

Thanks guys.

I felt like punching the guy. I was fundraising with my little bros, and he wouldn't even look at me. He just stepped around me, to get to my brothers and tell them how Jesus isn't God, blah, blah, blah. He was so rude and the fact that he tried talking to my little bros who aren't even 12, really irritated me.
