Unlike you I don't have the same bad feelings about Romney that I had with Dole and then McCain. Both of those times I thought it was crazy for the Repubs to nominate old cranky Senators that not very many people liked. In McCains case a guy who half the time didn't even vote with his party. It is true Romney is really a moderate but a Repub moderate is so much better than a liberal / socialist Obama there should be no hesitation about supporting him.

Still tying up some loose ends tonight.
No, CC1, I will never be for Romney. He did a horrible, dishonest lying character assassination on Newt in Florida. I'm speaking, especially, on the ethic violations that the IRS cleared him on (incidentally, there were 84 charges and he was cleared of all) and Romney knew it. And on Newt resigning in disgrace, Dan Burton (posted that clip on another thread) and Tony Blankley (posted that article on another thread) particularly spoke about that not being true.
It's just not possible now for me to ever think I could get behind Romney. It's just not going to happen.
Good night! I'm done. I could fall asleep for a month, it feels like. Campaigning is very, very tiring mental and physical work!

Yes, but I probably wouldn't allow him to teach on the virtues of marriage.

As disgusting as this is, the likes of Clinton and Kennedy have made baggage such as this an irrelevant point. America looks at them as a couple of the best presidents we have had, despite thier charactor flaws.

I just wanted to post this. A friend of mine was asked to attend a Republican Women's candidate forum last night in California. She said she didn't know what to expect - "they are all good conservative women for the most part.
Speakers running for our Senate spoke. They spoke of voter apathy that we must get out the vote. THEN the last speaker running for State Assembly spoke and said, 'Well I am a friend of Mitt Romney, I worked for Mitt Romney,' blah blah blah and no one applauded, no one said one word. From those I spoke to I got the feeling that none were very happy. This surprised me coming from a gung ho GOP group. I think there are going to be problems come Nov. if this is any indication."

Re: Newt to Suspend Campaign on May 1!
Romney is a Mormon, he is a quasi conservative who seems to be opportunistic politically with past stances and statements. He is the consummate politician, highly ambitious and eager to become president. He seems polished, packaged, perfected and proactive with the Oval Office in his sights. I have problems with a lot of that.
Barack Obama is from another Galaxy.
I can vote for Romney, if unenthusiastically, knowing that there's a chance to prevent four more years of Keynesian economics, social experiments, higher taxes, increased spending, deeper debt, class warfare, radical left wing, liberal policies implemented in the executive branch, liberal appointed judges, retooling the military, etc.
To me, complaining about Romney at this point makes little to no sense. We should not be focused on who creates enthusiasm among the GOP, we should be VERY ENTHUSIASTIC about removing BO from office!
It's like an army fighting among themselves who is going to be the general while the enemy is advancing. Realize who the real enemy is here PO!

We wouldn't be in some of this mess if it wasn't for the Elitist GOP, Deacon. The enemy doesn't only come from the Democratic Party.
And all I did was give you a view from the ground game. Apparently, it's hard for some to realize that we have a problem.
"Mr. Romney never had the love to start with. He did not win the nomination in a euphoric gush of voter enthusiasm; he captured it with superior organization and lots of money. A lot of Republicans do not especially like him or trust him; he seems too much a political chameleon for a party that has come to value ideological purity almost above all else. And his placid, rich financier demeanor does not exactly fit the angry, anti-Wall Street mood of the GOP's tea party faction." - David Horsey, The Baltimore Sun

I am sick of this garbage being promoted by the leftist media!! Over and over again!!! Romney is a genteel man of character and integrity, no one can lay a hand on his character and his values, in family and business. That is all just a big crock of stink!!! John Edwards was warm and fuzzy, you want a snake like that??? Obama is cooooollll!!! Good grief, I want a man that is not moved by all the goofiness, and just brings simple, good business judgment to the oval!!!

crakjack, You know that statement by the Baltimore Sun is true. My mother is an Independent and that is her view of Romney. I've talked to a whole lot of people who have the same view. Goodness, are you kidding me? You can't deny the low voter turnout and you can't deny that Romney is not loved by the majority of the Republican Party. Good grief. You can't deny the stats that he has only received 42% of the vote meaning 60% of the electorate didn't want him. That is common knowledge.
How in the world do you call him a man of character and values when he sits on a couch, with his wife I might add, and says that he will "always" support a women's right to choose (lovely terminology for pro-abortion) and then Ann tells Parade magazine that they have ALWAYS been pro-life. A total lie. For heaven's sake.
Why in the world would I study his policies and then be against him if he had a stellar record of conservatism? He is a notorious flip-flopper. That is common knowledge. Are you going to deny that? Goodness!
Don't worry, Obama will cover it well. Just get ready for it.
