Police State
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_state
The term police state describes a state in which the government exercises rigid and repressive controls over the social, economic and political life of the population. A police state typically exhibits elements of totalitarianism and social control, and there is usually little or no distinction between the law and the exercise of political power by the executive.
The inhabitants of a police state experience restrictions on their mobility, and on their freedom to express or communicate political or other views, which are subject to police monitoring or enforcement. Political control may be exerted by means of a secret police force which operates outside the boundaries normally imposed by a constitutional state.[

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Many people use the phrase as hyperbolic expression, meaning "unreasonably oppressive in a given situation", not unlike how I've heard people exaggerrate "that's nazi", or "what a little hitler." (But thanks for the PolySci lesson, it's of course correct.)

Re: U.S.Is A Police State.

America as a country is not a police state.

However, I see the increased aggresiveness of local law enforcement agencies as a bad omen.

The closest we've come to a Federal police state was the passing of the original, "Patriot Act", a misnomer of the worst kind,

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING PATRIOTIC about the Patriot Act.

The onus is on it's defenders to prove to me that it is.

Ben Franklin said it best, "Those who are willing to sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither freedom or security."

Maybe not a literal police state yet. But, a nanny state? I would firmly believe it's pretty close as more government dependency increases...

I'm not anti-government. Just a government minimalist on all levels...
