I have a very fond affection for the move of God's Spirit that I have experienced in the UPC, the people God placed in my life to teach me how to pray, and the people that taught me to persevere under hardship. They were all elders.
Other than that, it's a preacher's union and I don't have fond affection for that. LOL!
I've talked about this experience I had, during a particular prayer time, concerning TT's book, "The God Chasers". Nothing against the author. I don't know him personally.
Someone recommended the book, for motivation and encouragement, to go deeper with God and so I was interested. It was very motivating. Halfway through the book, I was home alone and in the spirit of prayer. I spoke to God that what I had was not enough, I needed more. He stopped that prayer as cold as brass and spoke to me, "You cannot get ahead of where I am leading you." I closed the book and never finished it. Some books may be motivational and encouraging, but we must remember that God directs our path.
