How can I "be filled with the Spirit?" That's nothing I can do for myself. Why would Christ drop the weight of my own salvation as something I must do. That's so contrary to his entire mission. We aren't getting credit. He saved us with His own blood. We simply needed to confess Him as Lord, with faith that He is who He said He is. Everything else is part and parcel of living out this beginning with Jesus.
