Crownover's Holiness PPT: Admits to Traditions

I found this powerpoint by Raymond Crownover, professor at UGST, to be enlightening to say the least:

http://crownteaching.com/powerpoint.aspx

Among his admissions about the UPCI's Holiness Article:

- the prohibitions on makeup, theatre and dances are carry overs from the 19th century Holiness movement.

- Dancing between a man and wife in private is not prohibited ... nor is mixed bathing between family members. Pants prohibited on a women not a practice in all churches.

- There is "No general stand taken about watching television" (Really?)

- Modern technology makes it unclear what constitutes a "television"-

- Some variation is expected to occur in non-Western nations as a result of cultural differences in the definition of modesty

Also, he argues that the standards of the UPCI holds are not just from direct NT scripture or biblical principles but from

- the laws of the Land
- Church traditions and culture
- Social Traditions and Cultural Patterns

A statement that stood out is that these standards ... "Should change over time as surrounding culture changes".

Your thoughts on the powerpoint ....
