Chris Matthews attracted a whole lot of negative attention when he made the remark about President Obama, "I forgot he was black."
Honestly, I did not find anything wrong with his remark, but I know Chris Matthews on-air demeanor does not lend his remark to something negative at all.
We're not talking about Imus or Limbaugh, we're talking about Chris Matthews.
That being said, I do understand the fury.
If you have not heard about the "furor", I've attached a link to an article that talks about it.
I've also attached a link to another article, depicting the FBI's involvement in a troubling threat to black college students in Ohio. This threat states that black college students at Hocking College in Ohio will
die on Feb 2, 2010.
Some black students have withdrawn from the school, some have ignored the threats, but racial tensions are high there and apparently have been high there for several years now.
So it is my opinion that yes, blacks, like most Americans, want to transcend race-- but like what's going in Ohio demonstrates, we still have a very long way to go.
