Hey Yall,
I'm back, and i've got more questions about tongues. Been doing some studying. If you could, Ilike you work with three points as honestly and true to the scriptures as you can. I do not need stories of personal experiences as proof of tongues. I want solid scirptures to back up these claims.
There are three (3) types of tongues right?
1. Holy Ghost baptism (no interpretation needed)
2. Prayer language - private or public (no interpretation needed)
3. Tongues and Interpretation - spoken TO men through men by God (interpretation required)
If there are three types of tongues, then there must be scripture to back up each type. So, if you please, could you provide me the following
A) A New testament passage of scripture, preferably in Acts, where tongues were spoken and interpreted as, "My son thou hast strayed...come back to the fold...be My son, and I will be thy Father...." Please see 1 Corinthians 14:2.
B) If the Pentecostal idea of tongues and interpretation is not biblical, regardless of your personal experience, then that leaves us with Holy Ghost baptism tongues and the prayer language...and Paul says we must interpret them, correct?
C) Finally, I'd like someone to explain the difference between the word "speaks" in 1 Corinthians 14:2 and the word "speaks" in verse 13. What makes the same word so different when Paul puts a requirement on it? Now, read verse 13-14 twice over, and tell me that speaking and praying in tongues are not the same thing. Lastly, read verses 13-17 and see just how many types of tongues exist, what message the tongues hold, and WHY we must interpret tongues.
You get a whole new perspective on just what tonues was all about in the Bible, and it's a bit different from what the emotional "personal experience" that many claim it to be.
God Bless
