Re: If you no Electricity could you live?
Thanks ILG, I think I'll stick with furry creatures and fruits and veggies. Who am I kidding? Maybe I'd be a vegan... I couldn't even kill a gardner snake that was on my driveway last fall! Put him in a bucket and carried him to the woods...
I also keep a garden, complete with basic herbs, and several herbal health books that explain natural remedies, give plant descriptions, and make alternative suggestions for supplies we normally use. ie spider webs stuck on a wound can help stop bleeding. Mint is good for stomach aches (and it works pretty well for tension headaches and bug repellant for me). Mulberries are a natural laxative, and dandelions are a natural diuretic. Sage for sleeping. Lambs ear is good for something... I'd just have to get out a candle and look that up.
I don't get sick that much, and have no real medical problems, so that makes a difference.
I'm experimenting with not turning the lights (thats the only daily electric in my house in the summer except cell phone chargers) on at night for the summer. Don't know how it will work, but I stay up too late with the lights on and live by myself so there isn't anyone to complain. With daylight lasting til 9:00 and past, I figure if dark is inconvenient maybe I should be doing something else (ie sleep, Mary, sleep! That's what night is for!!!) I tried it last night. I still stayed up til 11:30, but I woke up much more easily this morning and haven't been tired yet today like I normally am. So we'll see.
I'd love to be able to turn the power off in the summer. Last bill: appx $25. appx $7 for electric usage, the rest in taxes and fees.
