Cleaning Up DC, or Sweeping w/ the Same Ole Broom?
So Obama promises to clean up Washington for months during the campaign but is hardly a month in office and it looks like more of the same: three cabinet nominees who haven't paid large sums of taxes, three cabinet appointees who have strong ties to lobbyist firms after BO signed some of the strongest ethics measures for the executive branch. BO promised no one in his administration will be former lobbyists. These three appointees, one of which is the deputy secretary of state, all worked for lobbyist firms prior to nomination. BO signed "exceptions" for these three, doing an about face on his promise to not allow such in his admin.
A new argument is materializing against Prez BO and the Dems as the economic debate continues: Democrats are cavalier about taxing other people because they do not abide by the tax laws themselves.
A pattern seems to continue from before the election with corrupt persons surrounding BO, through the transition and Blago and the corrupt Chicago political machine, and now this. And its less than a month into the new admin.
I hope BO really gets serious about politics as usual. I hope he really takes steps to do some real cleaning up. DC needs more than some surface cleaning. It needs a major deep clean.
