The Catholic lady walked in to our service carrying a bottle of water. "Is it true that this is a church that believes in miracles?" she asked. She had heard the radio broadcast, where we were telling of healings and miracles in our midst.
"In the village where I live all the wells are dry, and I brought this water for you all to pray over, and my neighbors and I believe that your God will fill my well with water," she said. Since there is nothing too hard for God, and He honors faith. The Bible does say that He will bless our bread and water. So we prayed for the bottle of water. And in great faith, she carried her bottle of water back home with her to pour into the empty well.
It wasn't many days until she returned to tell us that she had poured that water that we prayed over into her well. She said the next day; her well had plenty of water in it! Would you consider it hard for He that is a spiritual fountain of water to fill a well with natural water?
God is continually working that the unsaved might be saved, the unreached might be reached, and he performs wonders that the unmoved might find that pain, heartache or dilemma that would not only get their attention, but soften their spirit and point them in the way everlasting. The rich and poor must heed this call, for it is to all men everywhere.
I am reminded and challenged by an event involving a young girl several years ago, I shall never forget. Her dress was tattered and torn. At one time, I think it had been blue. But now it was faded, patched and dirty. Her hair was matted and full of lice. Her feet were bare, but that is not what got my attention. After all, we were visiting a church in the backlands of Brazil, where this is a very common sight. But it was her reaching for my hand, and saying, "Missionary, please teach me to pray." I noticed as a tear trickled down her cheeks. So touched by the tenderness of His call.
Dare ye then despise those of earth's dust who have never had an opportunity to be washed? Do you feel yourselves justified? The elite of the universe. Do you not owe a debt to your poor earth bound brother who could love his creator as gratefully or as devoted as you, if he were told how?
Christ always identified Himself with the people. Oh! The adaptable Christ. The love of God is for the whole world, for each human being. He does not see any one group of people better than another group. Neither does He love any one group of people more than another group. It is our job on earth to manifest His love to all nations.
